Remember the games we used to play when we were young?  I vividly remember this one copycat game.  When I would say something, my brother would copy and imitate every word I would say.  Even when I say “stop it,” he’ll follow by saying “stop it."  Annoying.  Completely annoying (except when I am doing the copying of course). 

Unfortunately we grow older, and playing around sometimes seems immature.  But guess what?  Adults can still play games too! This is how I see it:

Find someone who has what you want , and do what they do. 

For example,  I saw my parents as Triple Diamonds with time freedom, capable of travelling the world, taking us on family vacations,  taking the dogs to the park, and doing the things they love to do without having to worry about lack of time or finances.  I saw them with new cars, new homes, and new toys.  I saw them meeting new people and making new friends.  I saw their ability to give back both to charity and to our family.  I witnessed firsthand how they gave my brothers and I everything we ever needed.  They definitely had what I wanted. 

So it became my mission to be an exact carbon copy of them.

The same should go for you.  Find that person who has exactly what you want, and do exactly what they do.  And do it NOW!  Don’t wait.  If you want to be a Diamond, replicate a Diamond.  Dress like a Diamond.  Talk like a Diamond.  Work like a Diamond.  Persevere like a Diamond. 

CLONE A DIAMOND!

This has probably got to be one of the best advice my mother has ever given me.  She taught me to BE IT…NOW!  Do you think top leaders were ever mediocre until they became top leaders, and finally decided to act the part?  Definitely not.  They acted the part since day one.  If you act mediocre, you’ll be mediocre.  But if you act like a Diamond, you’ll be a Diamond.

How do Diamonds dress? How do Diamonds talk?  Do Diamonds attend trainings?  Are Diamonds always at events?  Do Diamonds do personal development?  Are Diamonds proactive?  Do Diamonds giveback? Do Diamonds look at problems or do they always see solutions?  How do Diamonds hold themselves?

Answer those questions.  Start playing this adult game of copycatting.  If you truly want to be a Diamond, first be a DIAMOND CLONE! 

Now go out there, and start copycatting!
