Prosecutor: Two Norwood businesses shut down as nuisances
Stores had more than 350 police runs between them in 2 years

A pair of Norwood stores are closed Friday after being named nuisances.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters said Norwood police and Hamilton County sheriff's deputies shut down the Sherman Market and Donna’s Carry-Out with temporary restraining orders.
Deters said that in the last 2 years, the police were called to Sherman Market 217 times and called to Donna’s Carry-Out 153 times.
The calls ranged from fights to stolen goods to drugs, and included a shooting at the Sherman Market, Deters said.
"This is a good day for Norwood. Two businesses that caused nothing but trouble for the law-abiding citizens in the community have been shut down. Norwood citizens constantly complained about these businesses," Deters said in a news release. "Norwood Police made an inordinate number of runs to these locations and each time they responded they put themselves at risk. The surrounding community was also at risk as long as these businesses continued to operate."
Deters said the Sherman Market also contained six rental units, and that the Red Cross would be contacted if there were any residents who need assistance.
But a Red Cross spokesman said Friday afternoon that this is a tenant-landlord dispute, which is not something in which the agency gets involved.
Several people were at the Norwood Police Department by Friday afternoon, saying they had nowhere to go and no help forthcoming.
