Members of the National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party are meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to consider the postponement of the party’s convention for another 90 days.

Chairman of the National Convention Planning Committee and Governor of Rivers State, Nysome Wike, is presiding over the meeting which is taking place inside the Government House.

The NEC comprises members of  the Board of Trustees, members of the National  Caretaker Committee, National Assembly Members and Governors.

It also consists of some national and former national officers of the party.

The meeting was a follow up to the inability of the party to hold its planned national convention slated for Port Harcourt, Rivers State today.

It was gathered that the meeting may consider expanding the life span of the caretaker committee while the party continues negotiation with the factional National Chairman of the party, Sen.  Ali Modu Sheriff.
