2. I’ve “watched” several of the debates on Twitter, without TV. I’m game to go all in.

3. How about on both, TV & Twitter?In light of last week’s NFL post, watching on 2 streams seems to be the hip thing to do. Watching on just one screen is so 2015.

Because someone showed Cheney the receipts from when we sold those chemicals to Saddam intending that he would use them against Iranians?But Cheney, Condi, Powell, W, etc. were convinced that any day Saddam would have nukes. After all, as Condi told us, Saddam had aluminum tubes! And Condi said that they were for uranium separation. And IIRC Powell told the UN the same. But IIRC the US Department of Energy, who knows some things about uranium separation, that the tubes were not useful for uranium separation. Then a news report talked to an Iraqi who showed that he used to tubes as the bodies of DIY rockets.When a US General said that it would take 600,000 or so US soldiers to occupy Iraq, Wolfowitz said that it was absurd or some such to expect that it would take more troops to occupy Iraq than to defeat its military — from military expert Wolfowitz in his little office at the Hopkins SAIS — and “wide of the mark”. And W thought that “The Iraqi people are perfectly capable of governing themselves.” Lots of blood, treasure, and years later, maybe we know better?

6. As an HRC supporter, I plan to watch it much as I did last night’s Patriots game. I will turn on the Twitter stream with a deep sense of trepidation after a couple weeks of unexpected injuries and set backs. And I hope at the end of the evening to be cheering the metaphorical equivalent of a 27-0 blowout.

From Switzerland – I guess we may see a big trans-antlatic plume of toxic fall-out played out on the world stage over years rather than minutes.Whether the low-water mark of these debates is xenophobia, racism, corruption, braggardly behaviour or misogeny, there will be international trade, defense and cultural consequences.The recent trend for killing own citizens, together with an emasculated justice system, that also trades one crime for another with plea-bargaining for political gains is a symptom of a more broken culture but is the mere tip of an iceberg.A culture where many of the populus : expects to be lied to and rewards liars, rejects; due process, rights to defense and promotes torture and false imprisonment and frankly espouses unashamedly validity of either bombing the shit out of people “I dont like today” at a national level, or more locally shooting the shit out of them with rights to carry in the classroom , are simply an extrapolation from that rotten core.The world does not want the (worst of the) US to be the standard for policing (individuals or societies) and should not.However, In the past the US has brought some of the best of enlightened policy to the world.             1. I am a bit concerned about the situation after the elections, as the polarization is so high, there will be almost 50% of US voters very pissed off.

It happens that in Chile we have lower turnouts than the US, that I am familiar with.             5. JLM, Trump makes people hate him as much as like him so we are going to have a high voter turnout. If millennials,women, hispanics, college educated whites and blacks turn out as expected, she should win the race comfortably. Facts are often a good starting point.As an Election Judge, I got to watch my Precinct vote in the primaries and I can tell you a couple of interesting things:1. Every voter between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM was a Republican. Every. Single. One. Mine is a district with lots of doctors, lawyers, venture capitalists, and Indian chiefs, so this is pretty damn interesting.Early voting was huge also. Big indicator of enthusiasm.2. Republican turnout (joint primary with Republicans and Democrats voting at the same polling points) was at record levels while Democrat turnout was less, substantially less, than either Obama election.The People’s Republic of Austin is quite liberal and if there were to be a barometer of Dem turnout, this is where it would be calibrated. Pffffffft!Gary Mauro, HRC’s state guy and a “friend” of mine (our kids went to school together) said the same thing.Clearly, HRC is not gaining traction with millennials. That does not mean that Trump is but simply that she does not have the Obama mojo working for her. No “Hope & Change” mojo. What is her slogan, BTW? Yeah. Me, too.Already, Trump is doing better than his Republican predecessors with African Americans and Hispanics.The real opponent for HRC is voters staying home. Even the most ardent Dem pollster is concerned about the trends.Will he “win” some of these groups? No, of course not. But if he were to simply gain the same Romney penetration (something, he has arguably already surpassed), he wins.There is another spillover fact — when he courts the black vote, he puts the lie to allegations he is a racist which brings white “values” voters into his camp. All the CNN allegations that he’s doing this to attract white voters is correct as it relates to the impact. I leave others to divine his intentions.The debate on Monday night is the inflection point which may give us the clearest view of how this all ends up. There could be a knockout punch administered. DJT is running the low hurdles — just appear Presidential. While HRC is running the high hurdles — overcome the perception she is corrupt, dishonest, incompetent.[When the Director of the FBI says you are “extremely careless” and that you don’t understand email or the classification system, that smell permeates the air well after people stop talking about it. Guess what? The email scandal isn’t going away. It’s getting worse.]I predict that Dem voter turnout is miserable. This is not Barack Obama. He effected the 100-year storm. She doesn’t have the likability to do this.Already the states that offer early voting are seeing trends (albeit very preliminary) that support a turnout model which reflects what happened in the primaries. He is substantially behind Romney on Hispanics ( 17 vs 27), blacks ( getting < 3-5 percent ), college educated ( losing by a few points while Romney won them handily).Can he win ? Absolutely. He is winning white male non college graduates by whopping numbers and if they turnout in record numbers, it can compensate for his weakness everywhere else. But you cannot count on it and you also underestimate the feelings against him that are going to increase the anti trump turnoutAlso North Carolina early ballot numbers point to plus 8 increase for the Democrats. It was +5 Republican at the same time in 2012.Too early to predict anything but this is HRC’s election to lose f she does not make any major mistakes.

It’s ‘made’ for the distribution reach of a Facebook and others.So long as everyone working at T is a power user of the product the product will never devolve in complexity to become accessible to its growth target market, the masses.Power users are playing chess. Twitter needs to become the game of draughts to capture the masses.

I often wonder about this: if a product like TWTR exists in a marketplace with a product like the IPhone-where the company has gone out of its’ way to improve the user experience-yet remains wonky and difficult to use, how can they ever expect to gain the market share they claim they are after? Or is it just a case of the tech elite wanting the masses to subsidize their toys and continue the practice of digital exclusion?There are probably a dozen really useful use cases for TWTR, but if it is too hard to use no one will bother. I don’t personally have a sm account of any type because the web still accepts so much hate speech and personal attacks. The selling point of being able to reach any influencer is not a selling point if you are receiving death threats and hate mail for simply being who you are.

10. On Facebook. Why is that not an option here?

    2. oliol:The majority of polls are biased. Usually monetary incentives effect decisions. Twitter is the Facebooks (368B Market Cap) little sister by Technology standards, scale and Market Cap. Just a fact if you read independent reviews.Twitter’s market cap is 15B Market Cap. Facebook could just purchase it and make all the investors happy. They would change their tune overnight. Strange how thathappens.

14. I was impressed with how well the Twitter NFL stream worked last night for the Patriots game. I am likely to watch some sort of live stream at whatever watch party I go to.

15. Not free on Monday, so I’ll watch it Tuesday night on YouTube. Twitter sounds like a nightmare to me, though. This is the last thing I’d want to be in an echo chamber for.

16. Definitely on Twitter! If they can figure out a sort of ‘magic timeline’ for public events that lets you easily extend beyond your own timeline for one event, then Twitter will finally find its voice. Twitter is the new ‘smart tv.’

17. I’ll be watching on hipster tv since my gen3 Apple TV doesn’t have the twitter app. I do think John Heilemann is a perfect choice. The Circus has been one of my favorite shows of the year. I’ll be watching The Circus on Sunday and then the debate on Monday.

For debates, I often like radio (so I can do something else, plus these two candidates kind of creep me out), but it’s kind of hard/janky to listen to live radio on the web — everyone uses a different streaming tech, they bug out, etc. So I’ll probably have Twitter open b/c at least with NFL so far their streaming has been solid.

So, in Feb, my team did a hack where we used a 360-degree camera to record audience’s reactions as one of us impersonated the Donald (hair flicks, square stance and aggressive pointing into air et al) and his “ban on Muslims” speech.We real-time passed those images of the audience through MS Cortana’s AI algorithm to read emotions. Put the device at the entrances and exits of a venue, mall, etc. You can compute continuously a happiness index of the flow entering and leaving the place, the net difference can be correlated with the effect of the experience inside. Tweak the experience until you maximize happiness. Wow. You can sell that! Its realtime emotional marketing!My intended question was: How many faces per second can Cortana process? 22. I am wondering how Twitter goes about letting people know that they can watch the debate there. If you hadn’t mentioned it I would have no way of knowing that. Ditto for Bloomberg coverage. I am thinking they need some mainstream advertising in the WSJ and NYT to get that message out.
