“Avengers” Breaks Records With $250M Opening

Marvel Studios did it as “Avengers: Infinity War” soared over the weekend and overtook “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to reach a three-day opening weekend haul of $250 million – the best domestic opening weekend of all time.

That comes on top of the $106 million Friday haul, the second-best single-day in box-office history, and the $83 million Saturday haul which easily beat previous Saturday record holder “Jurassic World” ($69.6M).

The numbers are even wilder overseas with the film pulling in a $630 million weekend globally, easily smashing the previous record of $541.9 million held by “The Fate of the Furious”. The film also has yet to open in China and Russia, two of the biggest overseas markets. Critics may have been a bit soft on the film, but audiences warmed to the movie giving it an ‘A’ CinemaScore.

The film was so dominant, every other movie at the box-office struggled with second place going to “A Quiet Place” with $10.6 million. The film has no real competition until “Deadpool 2” on May 18th so for the next two weekends, expect it to dominate the box-office easily – even Deadpool himself acknowledged the success with the post below on actor Ryan Reynolds’ Twitter account:
