“The Lion King” Breaks Pre-Sales Records

Following its first 24 hours of advance ticket sales, Disney’s photorealistic reimagining of “The Lion King” has scored the second-best first-day sale of the year for Fandango after “Avengers: Endgame”.

In addition, the film had the ticketing service’s best first-day pre-sales for a Disney release outside of the Star Wars or Marvel Cinematic Universe franchises – even outstripping previous record holder “Beauty and the Beast” from 2017.

Over at Atom Tickets, their sales have dubbed it the best first-day sales for a family movie ever and sold four times as many tickets as were sold for last month’s “Aladdin” from Disney.

“The Lion King” opens in cinemas on July 19th.
