MPVs seem to be gathering a lot of attention lately with Triber changing the game for Renault and Carnival strengthening Kia’s foothold in the market. Since MG and Kia seem to be head-on, like with the Hector and the Seltos respectively, the former is all set to offer a new similarly-styled MPV at the 2020 Auto Expo.

As per the spy images, the MG MPV in question is currently sold in China and Southeast Asia as the Maxus G10 – and is available in 7, 9 and 10 seat configurations. The G10 MPV in these pictures is believed to be the 7-seater variant. Maxus is a UV brand under SAIC – the parent company of MG as well.

The 2020 Auto Expo will witness all the cars from SAIC’s portfolio under MG’s badging as the brand is focused on bringing the cars to the market. A display at the expo is aimed to gauge consumer interest and reaction to the said models.

In China, the G10 is available with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine that churns out 223 PS and 345 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. There is also a 2.4-litre diesel engine on offer mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or 1.9-litre, turbocharged diesel engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The G10 is likely to arrive in India at the beginning of 2021 with a 6 and 7-seat configuration. The Maxus D10 full-size SUV will be revealed by MG for the first time in India at the Expo as well.
