The much-loved Suzuki Jimny SUV has made its India debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.

This SUV needs no introduction even though it has never been showcased in India before. Yes, Maruti Suzuki has showcased the Jimny in India and this is one car that every enthusiast likes. As seen in the images, it looks just wow, however, when you see it in person you notice how compact it actually is.

The Suzuki Jimny measures 3645 mm in length, 1645 mm in width and 1720 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 210 mm and a wheelbase of 2250 mm. It has an approach angle of 37-degrees, a departure angle of 49-degrees and a ramp break-over angle of 28-degrees.

The vehicle doesn’t have a very luxurious interior but you get standard Suzuki fare with a lot of common parts shared with the Jimny’s siblings. The vehicle gets a SmartPlay infotainment system, AC, power windows, push-button start, etc. The 3-door version has tiny seats at the rear which when folded offer good enough cargo capacity.

Powering the Jimny is a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 100 HP and 130 Nm. This K15B mill also powers a variety of other Maruti cars. The SUV can be had with either a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT. It comes with ALLGRIP PRO part-time 4WD as well. The vehicle comes with 15-inch tyres and weighs just 1135 kgs.

Maruti is still evaluating whether to launch the Jimny in India or not. Who knows, the automaker might even launch a 5-door version of the vehicle here. What do you think about this SUV? Do you want Maruti to launch it in India?
