The front profile gets new headlights, grille and bumper

With the Geneva Motor Show getting cancelled due to Coronavirus threat, all the carmakers are revealing the new products online as per the schedule. One of them is Mercedes-Benz with the mid-life update of the E-Class.

The 2020 Mercedes E-Class looks more polished and elegant with this update. The front profile gets a new headlight cluster and new grille along with a revised bumper. The side profile remains more or less the same apart from the new alloys.

The rear is where the major changes are instantly visible. There are new sleeker wraparound tail lamps replacing the squarish units of the pre-facelift version. The boot lid and the bumpers are revised too.

The interior of the updated E-Class gets some interesting changes as well. There is a new flat-bottom steering wheel with dual control slats on each side, it gives a retro appeal and is inspired by classic Mercedes steering wheels.

There is a new MBUX infotainment system with 12.3-inch dual screens, one is the all-digital instrument cluster while the other is the centre console display. It can be controlled via touch or the new touchpad.

One of the new features include energizing seat kinetics which adjusts the seat posture with movement for better comfort. Next up is energizing comfort control that works with music, light and massage functions.

The driver assistance features include Active Brake Assist, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, 360-degree camera and Active Stop-and-Go Assist.

It is offered with multiple petrol and diesel engine options along with plug-in hybrids for the international market. They have also introduced a new 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine with the updated E-Class, mated to a 9-speed auto transmission.

Mercedes is expected to introduce the E-Class facelift to India later this year in the same long wheelbase avatar.
