Jayem Auto has parted ways with Tata Motors, JTP operations permanently shut.

Tata Tiago JTP Review In Hindi
Sad news for enthusiasts, no more JTP cars to come

Tata Motors announced their joint venture with Jayem Auto in March 2017. Now, exactly after 3 years of announcement, their joint venture has come to an end with effect from 4th March 2020.

This means, the JTP performance car brand has now been permanently shut. They are winding the operations before 4th March and the cars have already been discontinued a long while ago.

One of the team members of Jayem Tata Special Vehicles (JTSV) has confirmed that the board decided to shut down JTSV operations in a meeting in December 2019. They ordered completion of all winding down of material assets and manpower by 4th March 2020.

The customers of Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP are in trouble as they won’t be able to extend the warranty of their cars anymore. Even the maintenance of the cars is quite difficult since around 150 parts are different from the regular Tiago and Tigor.

It’s quite a sad news for enthusiasts in India as we expected to see many more performance oriented Tata cars from the JTP brand including new Altroz JTP and Harrier JTP with sporty styling and performance upgrades.

They launched the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP in October 2018 with a price tag of Rs. 6.39 lakhs and Rs. 7.49 lakhs (ex-showroom) respectively.

Both the cars were powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol producing 114 PS and 150 Nm. The Tiago JTP had a 0-100 km/hr timing of 9.95 seconds while the Tigor JTP claimed 10.38 seconds.

The JTP models came with wider tyres and lower ground clearance for sporty dynamics along with sporty exterior and interior styling to differentiate with the regular models.
