Tesla Cybertruck Production Version Can Fail, But There Is A Backup Plan

While there is time for us to see the Tesla Cybertruck production version, the firm’s CEO Elon Musk has revealed that the truck was not created after extensive market research.

Actually, there was no research done at all, admits EV maker’s top man, who also went on to say that there is a fallback strategy in place if the truck does not perform well.

“Customer research? We just made a car we thought was awesome and looks super weird,” said Musk. He added that he just wanted to make a futuristic battle tank “something that looks like it could come out of Blade Runner or Aliens, but was also highly functional”.

Unveiled in November last year, the Cybertruck literally broke the internet. The other thing that broke that day was the window of the prototype, but we’ll gloss over that.

Tesla claimed that the Cybertruck production version would have unparalleled capabilities such as the performance credentials of a sportscar and the towing capacity of a pickup truck.

Any manufacturer would want their product to sell well, but, Elon Musk knows the Cybertruck production version might not be to everyone’s tastes. “If it turns out (that) nobody wants to buy a weird-looking truck, we’ll build a normal truck, no problem. There’s lots of normal trucks out there,” he said.

By that he means Tesla is committed to producing the Cybertruck and at the same time, he has revealed that the EV maker can also do normal-looking cars if that is what the market demands.

Official release of the vehicle is slated for late 2021 and so, let us keep our fingers crossed that the two lakh people who have made deposits so far really do like the truck.
