Tesla Maharashtra Investment Talks
Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray tweeted about his talks with a Tesla team

The Maharashtra government has held investment talks with Tesla and has also invited the American electric vehicle maker to setup shop in the State.

Tourism Minister of Maharashtra, Aaditya Thackeray, in a tweet, on Thursday, stated that he and State Industries Minister Subhash Desai had a video call with the Tesla team.

He also stated that it was to invite them to invest in Maharashtra and added that he participated in the call due to his firm belief in electric mobility.

Aaditya Thackeray, in another tweet, said that the State government is committed to policy building and changes for sustainable development.

This development about Tesla Maharashtra investment talks comes close on the heels of Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s announcement on Twitter (on 2nd October 2020) that his firm will enter the country by 2021.

Musk’s statement came in response to a tweet put out by Tesla Club India which stated that its members have been awaiting a response about the carmaker’s India entry.

Further, Elon Musk has also said that the firm will release order configurator “probably in Jan(uary)” next year for the Indian market.

Back in September, the EV maker entered into early-stage discussions with the Karnataka government industries department to set up a research and development centre in Bengaluru.

Exploratory discussions were conducted on 19th September and a further round of talks was supposed to be held later in the month. Let us hope positive developments are made on either of the matters that have been reported thus far.
