October 2020 Car Sales
These top 25 cars contributed to 81 percent of total passenger car sales in the month

Car sales in the month of October 2020 were strong and barring a few, every model in the top 25 list posted solid growth.

Maruti tops the chart with the Swift leading from Baleno by a good margin, having sold 24,589 units with a 27 percent growth.

Then came the Baleno (21,971 units), Wagon R (18,703), Alto (17,850) and rounding up the top five was the Dzire with 17,675 units sold in October.

As can be seen, the top five models in the October 2020 car sales list are all Marutis. In fact the manufacturer has 10 of its products in the list.

In sixth place came the Creta as Hyundai shifted 14,023 units of the SUV, while the Grand i10/Nios came next, having just crossed the 14,000 units mark.

In eighth place came the Eeco from Maruti with 13,309 units, followed by the Vitara Brezza (12,087 units) in ninth, while the Kia Sonet rounded the top 10 with 11,721 units to its name.

The bottom half of the list has solid performers too in the form of Maruti S-Presso with 10,612 units, Hyunda Venue with 8828 units and the Tata trio of Nexon (6888), Altroz (6730) and Tiago (6083), to name a few.

When it comes to registering the highest degrowth, the Hyundai i20 leads, having lost 43 percent of its sales year-over-year (YoY). The new i20 launched today will hopefully rectify that.

Looking on the bright side, we have the Hyundai Aura and Xcent recording 302 percent YoY growth, followed by the Maruti Celerio with 106 percent growth.

In all, 16 cars in the list posted sales growth in comparison with the year ago period. Total sales (top 25) rose by 24 percent registering 2,71,128 units overall.
