Kia Seltos has achieved three stars in the Global NCAP safety tests for adult occupant protection and two stars for child occupant protection.

The Seltos offers double frontal airbag and pretensioners as standard. But, it does not offer standard 3-point belts in all seating positions and has no ISOFIX anchorages standard.

Global NCAP rated the SUV’s structure as (a borderline case) unstable and similarly, its footwell area was rated as unstable too.

When it comes to the adult occupant protection, Global NCAP found that the head protection was adequate for both front passengers as both airbags bottomed out during the crash test.

Further, the neck protection for adult occupants was good, while chest protection was good for passenger and marginal for driver. The car offers seat belt reminders for the front seating positions.

Coming to the child occupant protection, the dynamic performance was poor as the head and neck of the 3-year-old dummy had limited protection, while the 18-month-old dummy received acceptable protection.

Moreover, Global NCAP explained that the poor results for child occupants were obtained mainly because the manufacturer refused to recommend Child Restraint Systems (CRS) for the test, and this decision brought the dynamic score to zero.

Seltos was tested under the the #SaferCarsForIndia project under which Global NCAP currently only tests frontal crash protection for occupants and not side impact and pedestrian protection.
