Audi e-tron GT Quattro
Looks low and wide and has large wheels too

Audi has revealed the all-new e-tron GT, its all-electric grand touring 4-door coupe that will enable the brand take on segment leader Tesla.

Available in 2 variants – the e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT, come with some serious power figures, modern bodywork and are packed with technology.

On the outside, e-tron GT, be it the quattro or RS variant, look sharp from any and every angle. LED lighting is standard (Matrix LED headlights are standard on RS e-tron GT) on the car that has a long wheelbase, wide tracks and a rather flat silhouette.

However, the car looks the way it does due to aerodynamics, All the vents and parts are present to channel air as smoothly as possible and the result is a drag coefficient of 0.24.

Also, the EV features large wheels, with the size beginning from 19 inches, going till 21 inches and the 20- and 21-inch wheels feature aero blades as well. One can also get Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light, too.

Inside, Audi e-tron GT features a modern cabin with a simple design. The dash is set high, seating position set low, while the centre console is wider in the leather-free interior.

There is a 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus driver display, a 10.1-inch central MMI touchscreen, Audi connect package, flat-bottomed steering wheel, voice control, Bang & Olufsen sound system (standard in RS) and head-up display (optional), among several other features.

Featuring a 85 kWh (net capacity) battery pack, the Audi e-tron GT quattro has all-wheel-drive, since it features 1 electric motor on either axle, while there is also a 2-speed gearbox at the back.

Power figures differ between the models as well. The e-tron GT quattro has 476 PS and 630 Nm (640 Nm in boost) and can do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 4.1 seconds, while topping out at 245 km/hr.

On the other hand, the RS e-tron GT has 598 PS and 830 Nm and does the 0-100 km/hr run in 3.3 seconds and flat out, it can hit 250 km/hr.

Being a GT, Audi has given the car a maximum range of up to 487 km (WLTP), while the battery can be quickly topped up through 800 V fast DC charging with an output of up to 270 kW. The car supports AC charging with an output of 11 kW as standard.

Suspension-wise, the quattro features controlled damping, while the RS model has a 3-chamber air suspension system. Rear-axle differential lock and Audi drive select are offered as standard, but all-wheel steering is optional for both models.

In addition, Audi also offers driver assist systems such as Audi pre sense front and Audi pre sense basic safety systems as standard, as are lane departure warning and cruise control.

As optional extras, customers can choose to equip their Audi e-tron GT with more systems that are divided into “Tour”, “City” and “Park” packages, and come with features such as adaptive cruise control, park assist plus, among others, while the “Assist” package integrates all 3 packs.

Set to go on sale by this month overseas, the Audi e-tron GT is expected to give Tesla a tough time, much like the Porsche Taycan, effectively the Audi’s twin, did.
