Starting 2017, the messaging service will no longer support iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. But for the latter, users will still be able to use WhatsApp as long as they upgrade their operating system to iOS 7.1.2.
As reported by kompas.com, Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 users would also not be able to use the app on their phone by the end of 2016.

"The mobile phones that use those operating systems have been an important part of us. But they no longer capable of providing the capacity needed to develop our features," said WhatsApp in its official statement.
The company previously planned to slash support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian as well, but it later extended their usage time until June 30, 2017. (fmn/kes)
