Mally Beauty and RuPaul are teaming up.

The first collaboration for Mally Beauty, founder Mally Roncal is with drag queen, television personality and actor, RuPaul, for a capsule collection of color cosmetics that reflect both of their exuberant personalities.

“I’ve never done a collaboration before, which is why this is so monumental,” Roncal said. “If this was going to be the first [collaboration], we needed it to be the best and most perfect representation of what Mally Beauty is all about and just someone we all swoon over.”

Roncal and RuPaul have been friends since the early Nineties and Roncal has always been an avid follower of RuPaul’s work, including his popular VH1 show “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” She wanted to team up with RuPaul because she admires how he expresses himself and the message he puts out.

“Mally wants to make everyone she meets feel beautiful, which goes beyond makeup,” RuPaul said. “She’s an incredible artist who knows that the foundation of every look starts with self-love, which has always been my mantra.”

This isn’t RuPaul’s first beauty collaboration. He was the first face of MAC’s Viva Glam lipstick in 1994, which benefits the MAC AIDS Fund. He also teamed up with ColorEvolution in 2013 for a collection named “Glamazon,” which included a unisex fragrance and high-pigment color cosmetics.

The partnership comes on the heels of Mally Beauty’s minority investment from Guthy-Renker Ventures last month. TPR Holdings retains a majority stake in the business through subsidiary Beauty Visions LLC. Prior to the investment, the brand entered 1,100 Kohl’s doors and launched an exclusive Mallywood collection at Ulta Beauty.

While the capsule collection is still in the early stages, the brand has plans to create products focusing on eyes, lashes, lips and the face. Since RuPaul is a fan of the brand’s Poreless Face Defender, Roncal would like to create a limited-edition version for the collaboration.

“My number-one goal for this [collaboration] is that RuPaul loves it and it’s something he’ll be proud of,” Roncal continued. “I want it to represent who he is on any level and I want to see his vision brought to life.”

Mally Beauty and RuPaul’s capsule collection will be released in February 2019.
