Camp Safety Act Update: November 2025
On September 5, 2025, the State of Texas took historic action to strengthen youth camp safety following the tragic flash flood this past summer in Texas’ hill country. Senate Bill 1, collectively known as the Heaven’s 27 Camp Safety Act, and House Bill 1, the Youth CAMPER Act—were officially signed into law. Our hearts and prayers continue to be with those who lost loved ones and with the families still awaiting news from that devastating event.
The state’s new safety requirements are expected to be finalized in January. In preparation, Pine Cove has established an internal task force to update our emergency protocols this fall. These forthcoming state guidelines will shape our revised written and operational procedures.
The good news is that Pine Cove already meets many of the anticipated standards outlined in the drafts of the new legislation. We will be submitting our updated emergency plans to state and local authorities for review, after which inspections will verify our radios, communication systems, drills, and staff training. We are fully committed to excellence in safety and protecting your children.
Once our updated plan is approved this spring, we will provide all registered camper’s parents with a summary of the new safety measures and protocols.
Thank you for the trust you place in us—it is a responsibility we hold with the utmost care.
