Another Mid-Rise Mixed-Use "Urban" Project Hits Sunrise Blvd

New, 9 comments

Watch out Satori, more urbanity is slowly seeping into that most suburban of cities, Fort Lauderdale, crawling up US-1 from Downtown Fort Lauderdale like it's gone viral. Over at 1640 East Sunrise Boulevard, the construction of the apartment community Elan 16Forty is underway, and slated for completion in late summer 2014. This bunch of mid-rise apartment buildings contains 261 units, with one, two, and three-bedroom floor plans ranging from 686 to 1,599-square-feet of living space.

The apartment will have nine to eleven foot ceilings, large balconies and custom interior finishes such as European cabinetry, granite countertops with under-mount sinks, pendant lighting, bamboo flooring in living areas, and carpeting in the bedrooms.

Not so shabby amenities for an apartment project include a swimming pool will be equipped with cabanas, outdoor grills and a rooftop terrace. And there'll be a dog park. Also, the place will have a clubhouse with a gourmet kitchen and executive meeting area. A 6,000-square-foot fitness center will feature the traditional gym equipment along with a spin studio and a juice bar.

The exterior finishes include clean lines and industrial walkways (but not too industrial. This is Fort Lauderdale) connecting the buildings. Retail space on the bottom floor takes up nearly 2,300-square feet and overlooks busy Sunrise Boulevard.—Andrea Richard
