This house is located right in the center one of Jakarta’s most crowded residential area and assessed got lot of “luck” factors. Wide green area and shading trees become the expression of the architect in the design.

The design approach itself for this house is pretty simple, but still oriented to the needs of the owner of functional spaces.

On 378 square meter site, mass compositions of the building are consist of two boxes with light impression, contain public area on the second floor and private area on the third. Both placed right above the first floor which contain the service area, and the whole composition is lifted higher than the street level. Each boxes are subtracted in certain parts. Those are done with the intention to still get the separated boxes impression without breaking the interconnection, so that the dialogue between exterior spaces form and interior spaces could be created. Sensation of movement, both horizontally and vertically, is felt because of the dynamism as the result of that interaction.

The façade of this building dominated by transparent plane, with wide and maximum opening to present vast spaces image, and try best to utilize all the chances to “borrow” the whole location potentials, including the “luck” factors, to be part of the building mass composition and the inner spaces organization.

When entering this house, a foyer, which at the same time also could be used as a guest room, would be found first. Then to keep the privacy of the owner, between the foyer and the living room which located right next to it, the main stair with its glass railing is placed in between.

To access the living room, there is a corridor, which study room with maximum view to the green area outside and guest bedroom which is placed right in front of the main stair could be found along the right side. The wall of the guest bedroom which faced the corridor is dominantly covered by mirror to give larger area impression for the main stair and the living room. Meanwhile, on the left side of the corridor, there’s a void to continue the natural daylight from the skylight above.

In the study room, there is transparent and flexible folding door. So that when it’s opened, giving such wider area impression and unified between the study room itself, the corridor, and the foyer.

The unified area could also be found between the living room, pantry and the dining room which oriented to the backyard and the common carp pond. Using glass as material for the floor in the dining room and pantry area, to create interactions between the dry garden nad mini bar area below. With the skylight along the dining room to the living room, plus the maximum openings, these all create shading to the interior organization of the living room. And also with the existence of the simple architectural detail at the common carp pond, all of them present a very well integrated space composition and creating a comprehensive architectural dialogue which result richness of space visual aesthetic.

In the other side, the children bedrooms and the master bedroom are placed on the top floor, plus a mini bar which face the view at the center area. Both children bedrooms are placed at the front to get maximum view, meanwhile the master bedroom is placed on the back area to keep the master’s privacy. Beside the opening to the common carp pond and the backyard, there’s also an opening to the void and living room. These all create a harmony sustainability of architectural language.
