The Tesa 105 conversion project was named the winner of the Arsenale di Venezia Spa International Design Competition. This competion convened in 2006 for the realization of a new intervention to recover, reuse and give value to the Venice Arsenalle.

The reuse Program has as its main objective the conversion of an obsolete XVI century historic structure. This will be done by adding a new building capable of generating livelihood to the existing structure.

The approach taken for the project is to add a new contemporary architecture to the interior of the existing structure, generating a connection between the two. The original building, a 16th century industrial hangar, is structurally stable on the outside. The new project will be contained within that structure, without any visibility from the outside.

The new three story building contained within the historic structure hosts the following:

1st floor plan

-On the ground floor are four spaces with public facilities, informational areas, bookstores, an all-purpose auditorium and a bar. Open spaces are created to allow pedestrian passage between the area of the Casernette to the North and the foundation of the Novissima at South. Apart from function, the four areas are only responsible for bringing structure and stability to the upper levels.

-The first floor, coated entirely in screen printed glass panels, hosts five development offices and the Arsenale di Venezia spa offices, as well as two meeting rooms and an array of bathrooms.

-The second floor houses two glass areas intended for lower level offices and meeting rooms.
