Mixed use building Bizovik

At the northern foothills of the hill Golovec is situated a cluster of four houses, which are the remains of an old traditional farm. The cluster is located in the area where the urban and rural fabric coexist. Generally this is the eastern part of Ljubljana, Slovenia's capitol.

The oldest building is the barn built in the 1930's, whereas the other three buildings result as a in adequate intervention executed in 1970's. Slightly raised location offers some beautiful views towards Kamniško-Savinjske Alps and is nearby to a popular foot path called PST which surrounds Ljubljana.

The gound floor hosts creative IT company Razum d.o.o., whereas the upper floor hosts loft apartment which is divided in two levels. Half the existing upper floor was completely gutted, new system of cubes facing north towards the Alps was inserted.

From the south the apartment receives sun light just through roof windows. From the entrance the hallway leads to two bedrooms with bath room, on the other side the vast space opens into the loft.

A full-height widows provide one with astonishing views towards mountains. Indirect artificial lightning with polygonal ceiling geometry create unique ambient.

Prepainted aluminium sheets (manufacturer Novelis)were chosen to be instaled as final faced layer. Grey and gold colours of the cubes emphasize the urban charactere of the building. As a contrast the gound floor was coated with light toned screed.
