Text description provided by the architects. This building is the House and Chiropractic space complex where is at the top of river terrace of Hirose river in Sendai, Miyagi. The architects pursued an architecture as a topography led by the balance of the neighboring environment which is like a part of ground made and eroded for a long time ago by Hirose river.

The ground level of river terrace is led to a simple rectangular parallelepiped volume of 6m x 12m x 8m. This simple operation can make a deformation space inside. The emerging space made by this deformation becomes a family theater and study room and can be intermediate range connecting private area; housing and public area; chiropractic space naturally. By this deformation, "moving topography" emerge which is to be changing a space gradually to be recognized as depending on a place of human staying.

Moving topography can make each spaces tie like a cave and various situation that has a natural boundary emerge by it. People visiting from dynamic environment where is at the top of river terrace is led to inside naturally where it is taken. The south wind from Hirose river come into inside and fill up with it. Then it is risen up by void of center and goes outside. This can stimulate natural air circulation inside.

In this project, it is important for living and act; chiropractic that stimulate suitable breathing and fix the autonomous nervous system for human to create a space to bring relief that people living and visiting can feel wind like as being outside even if they are inside. Hachiman wood cave is the rectangular parallelepiped house that involves close relationship between the spaces that take place condition of environment simply and act of chiropractic.
