Customer Review

Final: It is only July 7th and already the blade is beyond usable, falling considerably short of expectations and 2 weeks short of even matching my no-cost solution. (Total days in use = 40, or 5.7 weeks). I meticulously followed the instructions on the use of the Blade Buddy. Others seemed to have had much more success with this than I did but for me, it is not something I would buy again nor recommend to someone I know.

Updated 05/28/2012: I had originally written the review shown below about 2 weeks ago. Since then, I have received no less than 4 emails from the seller requesting me to revise or remove my review. They MAY have legit cause for asking, but the "jury is still out." I told them i would revise after more use IF I found a difference. Their position is that using the product on a dull blade is not the intended use. Rather, it is to keep a new blade "like new" longer. I started using a new blade on 5/16/2012 & promised to post back after passing 9 weeks. (Typically, because i do keep data on such things, I already know that a blade lasts me 9 weeks. So 10 wks from 5/16 would be 7/25/2012.) I am not removing the original post because the product has not yet proved itself.

Original Review: I bought the Blade Buddy because others had given it a good review. I've used it several times now and actually find that my terry cloth hand towel does a better job. I actually tried several tests where first I would sharpen with the Blade Buddy and then start shaving. The blade felt very dull. Then I rinsed the blade (from the first swipe to get rid of the shaving cream) and used my terry cloth towel. The blade felt much sharper and didn't snag. With both the Blade Buddy and the towel, I made 20 sharpening strokes. For the Blade Buddy, I added the recommended shaving cream. With the towel, I merely used the rinsed blade. So actually, the terry cloth solution is better all around... 1) You do not have to treat the blade with shaving cream before sharpening, 2) You do not have to buy anything you don't already have, 3) You get a better sharpening with the towel.

Sorry Blade Buddy, but that is my experience.
