A temporary customs union could be put in place to help "facilitate the freest and most frictionless possible trade" between the UK and the EU after Brexit, the government is announcing today. Brexit Secretary David Davis will ask Brussels for an "interim" period to allow a smooth transition to the new trading regime that will be put in place once the UK leaves - during which trade deals could be negotiated with other countries. He joins us on the programme.
