1. Introduction

The first specimen of the Nikkor AF-S 16–35 mm f/4G ED VR fell into my hands soon after its launch, already in 2010. Although I gathered all testing material I couldn’t analyze it properly because there was always something more pressing to do. In the meantime I had to return the lens. When I finally got round to analyze the data the results proved to be surprising – in fact so surprising and untypical that I was afraid to publish them. If I present any material I have to be dead sure that I understand it myself and it concerns results in every testing category. As I had my doubts, I decided to put it off until I manage to receive the next specimen of that lens, making it possible to repeat the measurements and check those aspects I found doubtful the first time.

At the end of 2013 I requested another specimen of the Nikkor AF-S 16-35 mm f/4G ED VR from the Foto Plus shop in Kraków. The lens was sent to me promptly so I could verify the previous results. The following chapters present my findings – enjoy your lecture!
