Why do people say "its so awesome"? I dont get why people like it. All your doing is killing people. I prefer survival over pvp. Also, whenever I ask for a survival server, People give me a PVP. I dont mind PVP arena, those are actually quite fun. But whole servers arent.
I'll go on one if you guys can prove a valid point of why they are better then survival server.
PS: Minecraft was NOT meant to be PVP! It is a SURVIVAL/CREATIVE game! NOT PVP.
>You find a non-pvp survival server
>Dude breaks into your house and steals everything in ur chests
>You can't do anything about it
>Go back to forums and whine about how you can't do anything about this sorta people in non-pvp servers
Is what will happen.
Get over it. I dont care. It's a bunch of damn pixels. I'll go find more.
Plus, I can just build further out or "PROTECT MY ****!"
Some people, like me, enjoy the idea of always being at risk. It gives a whole different play experience and, IMHO, it's also a lot more fun.
Plus, when you keel a person, you get free stuffz. And who doesn't like free stuffz?

Not free stuff. You have to kill them. Plus, why are there waaaaaaay to many PVP servers?
Just go find a server that isn't PVP and stop bitching. I mean I don't like servers that have all these protection plugins and stuff, but I dont go post whole topics an **** about that. Yes there are a lot of PVP servers but there are almost as many regular servers. So just stop whining and keep it to yourself. Im sure many people share your views but that doesn't mean you should go post a topic about it...
So how bout you actually think about this... There are so many PVP servers because there are so many people that like PVP servers. There wouldn't be as many if there were only a few that liked them.

Oh really? Look at the survival server section. All there is are PVP servers. There may be 1 or 2, but no where near the amount of PVP.

Because PvP is popular. Also, it offers something that SSP cannot. You can do just about everything that you can do on SMP on SSP besides PVP. That's why there are so many PvP servers.
Also, Minecraft is a survival game. And it's become a very easy survival game. PvP ramps up the survival aspect of the game back up to the levels that makes you feel the danger / nervousness of the old days.
It has a main world, hub (cloud server), mine world (all survival), Creative world, pvp world (dont need to go there), and if people greif/steal from you, just do /ticket new [msg] and mods will jail/ban the greifer/stealer and a sub-admin will rollback your stuff, except on mine world, its for mining, DONT build there, its reset weekly, if you find a building there, unless the owner is right in front of it, its okay to greif it

Want to know why I have no interest in PvP? You can spend weeks and months building the most beautiful whatever, and then some spoiled 10 year old comes and blows it up and thinks he's awesome. This is not my idea of fun - not at all.
Sooner or later I'll join a server, but it will be a friendly one where kids with temper problems are banned - or maybe not even invited.
PvP is fun. I admit, there's people killing you at the most inconvenient of times and the idiots that wait just outside the safety of spawn with all their weapons and a friend that "promise he wont help" with Iron armour and a loaded Bow. But it adds excitement and challenge to multiplayer.
I don't like PvP servers myself, but I do think it was a bit uncalled for to go to this level to complain about it.
If you don't like PvP, find a server without it. It may be rare, but they exist. Even better, if you have a good computer you can make one yourself, and just invite your friends onto it or something. Once I get my new computer, that's what I'm doing, as I'm also sick of all those PvP servers everywhere.
However, I can say this about PvP: No matter who you're fighting, regardless of who they are, they're still better than the mobs of Minecraft. They have better tactics, they fight back, often they have multiple forms of attacking, and you can't (usually) kill them by spam clicking your sword and backing up.
I think you are totally right minecraft was not made for PVP and when i look for a server that doesn't have PVP i can never find one. And when you are just trying to build cool stuff people just kill you, take all your stuff that you found by yourself, and then destroy your house, its so freakin' annoying.
Direct pvp in minecraft does kind of suck. Direct minecraft pvp = rushing at another player with a sword and spamming the left mouse button repeatedly until you or the person you attacked dies. Occasionally battle tactics are used, but most of the time, whether you win in a battle or not depends on the armor you're wearing or the weapon you're holding. Minecraft only has two weapons that are meant for fighting, the sword and the bow. Potions are useful in pvp, but they weren't implemented into the game for that purpose. Indirect pvp in minecraft would be much better, imo. Sometimes people forget that minecraft is a sandbox game, and that you can destroy/place blocks to kill someone instead of just smashing a button several hundred times. You can manually make traps in minecraft, use the environment to your advantage (sniping someone with a bow whilst hidden in a tree instead of shooting them head-on), or lure them into lava. I think op would enjoy pvp if most minecraft players used indirect pvp.
If you don't enjoy PVP, you can as well go for SSP. The beauty of PvP is that you are always at risk of being killed. Now if you can establish a nice looking base and be king of PvP, your e-peen grows a lot.
PS: Minecraft was NOT meant to be PVP! It is a SURVIVAL/CREATIVE game! NOT PVP.
First off, if it wasn't meant to have PVP then it wouldn't have been implemented. That's a horrible basis for an argument. Whether you like it or not is up to you but try to at least back your opinion up with logical and thought-out answers.
Personally, I find PVP as a necessary part of Survival Multiplayer. It get's very boring very quickly when the only danger present are a few skeletons and zombies which could easily be killed by stone weapons. It creates excitement and adds a sense of danger which isn't present otherwise. I feel that it recreates the feeling of being new to the game and really brings out a better atmosphere. This really gets pronounced when on Role-play servers when you don't knew who you can trust and where killing people randomly can be justified by a well thought out character. In full, I think it's the general feel and atmosphere it makes.
edit: Also, there's plenty of non-pvp survival servers.
Minecraft is your game, and you can do basically whatever you want. Don't expect people to always be with you on the stuff like this. But you'll always eventually find at least one, two or even ten people who agree with you. You just sometimes need to keep on looking for better results. Minecraft has a very unpredictable community, and you never know what people might pull up next.

Well obviously you're the minority... More people like PVP. Plain and simple. Sucks to be you mate.
