John Mark Karr, the pale-faced teacher who falsely confessed to killing JonBenet Ramsey, has resurfaced — this time as a woman.
Karr has not had a sex change, but refers to himself as a woman and holds a Washington state license under the name Delia Alexis Reich.
A former “fiancée” drew 45-year-old transsexual back into the public spotlight when she accused Karr of recruiting little girls for a sex cult she called “The Immaculates,” according to an investigation by The Daily Beast.
When informed of the accusations made by 19-year-old Samantha Spiegel, one of Karr’s former elementary school students, he issued this bizarre reply:
“Do you make a difference in the lives of children with your research or do you only blast pedophiles and talk the rhetoric of the severe punishment they deserve? Aren’t the children the matter at hand and not the pedophiles? Do you consider me a pedophile?
“You’d have to prove that with more than rumor. If you do accuse me of such, I deny the accusation emphatically,” he told The Daily Beast.
In 2006, Karr claimed he killed 6-year-old beauty-pageant contestant JonBenet Ramsey in her Colorado home in 1996. Boulder police later ruled him out as a suspect.
Spiegel says she was infatuated with Karr from a young age. “All the kids were in love with Mr. Karr,” she said, adding that she would have “killed for him.”
Spiegel’s parents, though, were outraged at their daughter’s relationship with Karr — as well as her drug addiction — and placed her in rehab.
When she came home 16 months later, she says Karr pestered her to find little girls for a cult.
“If I find you have been deceiving me I will kill you and laugh as you die. Do you understand me?” Karr allegedly wrote to Spiegel.
Shortly after, Spiegel says Karr sent another e-mail.
“Give me your house phone number. If you cost me my little girls I will hunt you down and kill you.”
Seattle police issued a restraining order on Karr, but have been unable to locate him.
