I’m getting a lot of requests for a Mixergy community. I created the site, but I can’t build it out and lead it on my own. Want to help?

Why we need our own community

Imagine that you heard yesterday’s interview with Simon Sinek and it convinced you to find your “why,” but you have a few questions about how to do that. Who do you ask?

Or what if you noticed that Aaron Wall is coming to Mixergy to teach SEO and you have some questions for him. Who do you send them to?

Right now, most viewers send them to me. But I’m letting you down, because as Mixergy grows I can’t answer all the questions fast enough.

We need a community where we can help each other. A place where asking, “How do I find my why?” won’t get you a “huh?!” One where you can ask questions of the accomplished people who I interview on Mixergy AND of all the bright people who are students of those interviews.

Details

I decided to use Q&A platform, Stack Exchange, after a long and helpful conversation with Mixergy fan “AndrewSG” of StyleGuidance.com. He even picked a name for the site, FoundersMix.com, which I bought last week.

There already are some great entrepreneurial question and answer sites out there. There’s no point in reproducing them, and I’m not suggesting we do it. The goal is to give you a place to ask and answer questions related to Mixergy interviews and to help each other out, and to make it easier for you to get help from the guests on Mixergy.

How you can help

I came up with a list of a few areas where you could help. If there’s something else we’ll need, tell me.

Moderate the discussion – Does anyone here have experience moderating a Stack Exchange site? Want to do that for this site? (If you don’t have time to moderate, maybe you can tell us what it takes to do it right.)

Help design it – Did you see the ugly logo I created for FoundersMix.com? Want to offer up a replacement logo?

Help develop it – There are a few things I think we should add to the site, like “tweet this” buttons. I don’t know how to do that. If you do, I’d love your help.

Help integrate the community into Mixergy.com – I’m not looking for intrusive integration. I just want to make it easy for viewers of any interview 1] to ask questions relating to that interview (I think a simple text input box + submit button are enough for that) and 2] read the questions others have (a basic rss might do the job).

Sponsor it – This will be a completely free, ad-supported site. I have no clue how the ads will perform, so I won’t set the price. Email me and you could pretty much pay what you want.

Suggest interviews about community – I’d like to do a series of interviews about online community-building so we could all learn how to build them properly. If you know someone who’d make a good interview, email me about them.
