Summer's Coming

Ah, spring!

Not sure where you are, but here, the days have been nice. VERY nice. 60s. Low 70s. Some pleasingly overcast days, some sunny. And a warm wind! My god, the warm wind! So amazing! Open the window on one side of your house and the window on the other, and now the very weather itself is your fan!

Well, here comes one of our favorite things to do: shit on the delightful climate of today by reminding you what’s coming tomorrow.

That’s right. It’s the month of showers that issues in a month of flowers that itself issues in several more months of showers. Only, “showers” in this case may refer to the ones that happen in the sky, but more likely signify the many you’ll have to take to counterbalance the sweating you’ll do in the sauna-like out of doors.

That cross draft we mentioned earlier? Come July, you might as well set a raw pork butt roast under one of the windows, because the air coming through’s closer to what you need for low-and-slow cooking than cooling off. Also, it probably smells like a smoker too, because any breeze you get will do little more than swirl up the heat and stink of all the outdoor ovens within a three-block radius.

Okay, fine. We’re laying it on thick. As we always do.

Summer is fun. It can get a bit hot, a bit humid, the sun can be a bit too bright. But still, it can be enjoyable outside if you’ve got friends and cold drinks.

What’s not enjoyable is holing up in your home office in the attic or the room that gets all the sun and feeling sweat gather on your brow while you work on a spreadsheet. Or going to bed and taking a deep breath of stagnant air. Or hosting a friend who’s passing through town and seeing the next morning that the sleep they got in the guest bedroom left them hot and depleted.

Fans. What we’re saying is, get some fans.

Like, for example, these fans.

They’re small enough for your desk but not as small as something handheld, they move air at three different speeds, and they oscillate. You know, fan stuff. And we’ve got two different sizes to choose from.

So pick a size and then buy a fan.

You won’t not use a fan.
