Appalling airport! Car return is excellent then it rapidly goes downhill after that. signage very poor. Baggage drop are totally unorganised and very rude staff. Spoke to me like I was an idiot. Security is the worst I’ve ever experienced and I travel A LOT, very lengthy queues, supervisor standing around doing nothing. I was moved to another queue because I’m a woman and apparently I might have accused the security staff of assault so he’d only allow men in his line. Utterly bizarre. I’ll avoid flying out of Frankfurt in future

Overall experience is awful. Bad signage, no quiet area (at least I could not find it). Long walks between. Food and drink shops are fast food experience except 3 times the normal price. I could not get a cold fizzy drink in the badly air-conditioned terminals. Check ins bot open despite automatic check in and bag drops. Awful all together. What was once an airport with flair is now a real dump.
It’s worse than a 3rd world country.
Arrived from JFK at terminal one had to walk a 20 minutes to get to my connecting gate to Amsterdam, of course I had to go thru security. The guy who is guiding on what to remove & etc did understand that I need my water bottle to take my prescription. He insisted that I need to throw it away. It was sealed bottle that I got from the airplane that I just got off. Walked another ten minutes got my departure gate no water fountain along the way & bathroom had only two toilets , cold water & no soap at all.
I would highly recommend to avoid this outdated airport.
My favorite connection airport is Istanbul international airport ( voted # one airport in Europe ).
WARNING ⚠️
Do NOT ever fly through Frankfurt, Germany as an American!
The line for Terminal Z passport check was literally half a mile long!
We nearly missed our flight, but Joh took us through the EU passport line with his and kids' German passports and we still had to run for dear life.
We boarded as they were closing the gate.
They did this to Abby and I too and everyone in the US passport line was about the miss their flights!
Do NOT use Frankfurt for any reason if you only hold a US passport! Furthermore, the plane didn't even come close to the terminal. It was so stupid! It landed at Z, and we had to take a bus for 15 minutes to A, only to have to run 3/4 mile back to Z!⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
This is not the first time we've connected through Frankfurt, but it will be the LAST!
Use Munich or Hannover instead.
Even better, fly into AMS or into Rome and take the train in.
Every airport in Europe is better, including Naples.
Terrible airport
Terrible airport. Long line for check in and security check. Even for the business class in Condor , I need to wait for a long time to just check in. Very inefficient!

I was touched very inappropriately at security
The invasive security checks are from another century and highly uncivilised. This woman at the security put her hand on my panties, I was so chocked and asked what she was doing. She replied she was doing her job, but I have never been touched so inappropriately in any other in the world. She was extremely rude, and she called her supervisor, who came with his firearm. He tried to calm me down, but I felt so dirty after this experience. This is truly unacceptable to be humiliated like this in any case.

If I could give it a minus 5 I would
If I could give it a minus 5 I would! Up and down escalators to get E gates, lounges before security but no indications anywhere of that, check in desks on D area after Delta tells you it's in E area, just a mess...not to mention 40 minutes to claim your bags! Never again!

Insane lack of staff and staff don't understand you at all
I cannot explain how confusing the airport layout is. Doesn't help when there's no staff either. Like yall I had a 5 hour layover there and struggled to find out where my gate was for a good 3 of those hours, didn't help AT ALL when I spent it looking for a staff member to help me. I found 3 customer service desks and not a single one of them had a staff member on. When I did find one, he had absolutely no idea what I was trying to ask him. I asked him if he could 'show me where gate B28 is' and he replied with 'ma'am you need to wait until your flight is on the board'. It WAS on the board, I tried telling him it was and that I just needed help finding it and he just said he didn't understand and walked away from me. I literally had to ask some random person who was fortunately going to the same area of gates as me. It was just really stupid tbh

Customs area in Terminal 1 was…
Customs area in Terminal 1 was extremely crowded with passengers from at least 3 arriving planes at 7am on a Sunday ! European passport holders queuing for 20-30 minutes is unacceptable.

Wheelchair assistence is not working like it should to be. Most of the times we must walk and had 2 minutes to catch my blight. You must run really fast to catch your plane said the driver from the assistence!!! Never travel wihh Frankfurt again!

The staff there is very unfriendly
The staff there is very unfriendly. They seem to hate answering questions. They're extremely disorganized. I made an online check-in and still I had to stand in 3 different queues during the onboarding, they didn't even announce there is a system issue. And when I asked what was the point then of online check-in if I still had to wait in 3 lines to get on the plane, one of them answered "you are being rude!", I didn't even scream or swear and I was still the one being rude(if you are being frustrated by the question, then don't even stand on the counter, better search for a different job) . 3 women did onboarding for 50 people 45 minutes. What a waste of time! Airport employees don't know how to work with people or manage our and their time effectively!

Absolutely the worst airport I have…
Absolutely the worst airport I have ever transited through. Old and shabby. There is no consideration of passengers and their experience. The transit process seems almost deliberately designed to be as inefficient and arduous as possible. Employees, at least those with whom I interfaced ranged from inefficient to surly to militant. They simply do not care. What an unfortunate transportation hub for a city as lovely as Frankfurt. Avoid this airport if possible.

Worst airport I have ever gone through
It’s a huge airport but people who work there are not very helpful especially you are not a German speaker!
Information is changing constantly and it confuses both the staff as well as passengers

They made us walk so many times after…
They made us walk so many times after we checked in and got our boarding pass to go to tax refund then they told us that we need to weight our bags first which nobody understands and don’t explain anywhere we go. And the security is so shitty. 2 young girls are chatting enormously loud before I get all my stuff. They have bad attitude to start with but they took my jacket and started touching disgustingly and asked if there’s nothing inside, it went through security it’s their job if there’s anything inside. But I said no, and they are laughing asking if there’s no drugs or guns. What the f is wrong with them?? Never had anything like this happened to me and it was disgusting. Never going.

No food after security
We arrived 2 hours before our flight and planned to have some food before we boarded. Went through security to gate D2 in terminal 2 and there was only one tiny little shop.

Very rude security lady
We flew from Manchester to Frankfurt on our way to New Zealand via Singapore and then New Zealand to Singapore and Singapore to Frankfurt and then home to Manchester.
On the way out landing in Frankfurt everything was great at the airport.
Security checked our carry on bags several times due to flight delays.
Singapore and New Zealand no problems!
We land back in Frankfurt on 1-3-25 and head for the transit lane to the business class lounge.
As we reached security it was all a little confusing 🫤.
My carry on case was rejected and had to be opened!
Now bearing in mind it’s had the same items in it from leaving Manchester nothing has changed as to what’s in it or how it’s been packed.
But now it’s a problem and they want to open it !
Fair enough I don’t mind you looking at it! But the nasty rude woman who was on duty did you no favours.
She was obnoxious and extremely rude !
She is not a good ambassador for the airport security!
If anyone from the airport reads this which I doubt have a serious word with her .
Flight details LH9765 landed from Singapore at 17.45
She was the only lady on duty at this time with all the guys.
Also there was a policeman and police lady on duty so this would narrow it down for you .
She needs a complete customer relations course!
This has soured our trip !

German staff at the airport were so rude and unfriendly. I've never seen anything like it.
They treated us like garbage.
I'll definitely try and avoid German layovers in the future.

Inappropriate behavior of Security
There was an Indian or African guy working at the inspection area for departure and he opened my bag on a pre-screening conveyor even before an X-ray screening while I was not looking at my bag. When I was turning around, I saw him pick up my eyeglasses case which was in my bag and he was opening the case without any reason. I don’t know if he took something from my bag. His behavior was totally inappropriate!!! I travelled around the world and it is very unusual for a security staff to open bags and take belongings before an X-ray screening without informing or getting permission from the owner. In an X-ray screening, there was nothing for a further check. I felt so weird and insecure after this unpleasant event.
