The writing is very approachable and relatable. The part where purge pencil becomes the first 1:1 implement provided a great perspective. There is a lot in here that I identified with and Micah’s words really spoke to me.
This is like the Alchemist. It is something that I would pick up and re-read when I feel like I’m starting to lose my way as a teacher. It is also something I would suggest to a friend or co-worker when they have had too many days where they’re just not feeling it anymore.

A must read for all stakeholders in education. Dr. Micah Shippee is an educational visionary as he takes apart and reassembles the roles of innovation, change, and adventure in education. In a time when education is constantly evolving, the journey (aptly reflected in the title of his book, WanderlustEDU) is equally, if not more important, than the actual destination. Shippee does an incredible justice in defining innovation as it applies to teaching, learning, and leadership by exploring how self-definition, sense of tribe, the understanding of school culture, and the adoption of innovativeness lead us on the journey toward our future schools. WanderlustEDU is like a symphony, conducted by the inspiring and passionate visionary, Shippee, who creates a beautiful harmony of stories, strategies, and research that empowers readers to become innovators in their own journey of adventure, change, and innovation. Kudos to Shippee for an outstanding book that will surely shift the culture of schools and leadership.

There are some authors that have a knack that allows them to keep even those of us who aren't huge fans of reading engaged. Ladies and gentlemen, here you have one of them. There are a lot of things to consider when looking at how to improve and grow in our effectiveness as educators. This book is a pleasure to read and gives clear, interesting, and thought provoking ideas and examples which inspire and stay with you long after you turn the page.

When Micah closed his WanderlustEDU Introduction with "Let's Do This," it was the perfect phrase to describe the adventure he takes you on through the book. He writes as he could be anyone's mentor and friend guiding you on the journey to many ah-ha moments. These are the types of moments one can hope for in an education book. After reading this book I felt more confident in embracing struggles and appreciating the journey, first as a learner and second, as an educator. The signposts and waypoints are brilliant and nothing like I've seen in any other book. Let's do this!
