Chapter 1[edit]

1 He called to Moses, and Yahweh spoke to him from the tent of events, saying:

2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and you said to them:

A man who will bring forth a sacrifice for Yahweh--- from the beasts, from the cattle and from the flocks, you will offer your sacrifice. 3 If he brings his offering from the cattle, an unblemished male will he sacrifice, to the opening of the tent of events will he sacrifice it, by his desire, before Yahweh. 4 And he will rest his hand upon the head of the offering, and it will be desired of him that it atone for him. 5 And he will slaughter the son of the cattle before Yahweh. And the priest sons of Aaron will sacrifice the blood, and they will throw the blood on the alter around, which is at the opening of the tent of events. 6 And he will skin the offering, and carve it into its cuts.

7 And he sons of the priest Aaron will place a fire on the altar, and they will arrange wood on the fire. 8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, will arrange the cuts, the head and the suet, on the wood which is on the fire which is on the altar. 9 And its offal and its limbs will be washed in water, and the priest will grill the whole upon the altar, a fiery offering, comforting scent for Yahweh.•

10 And if from the flocks we will sacrifice, from the sheep or from the goats, for the offering, an unblemished male he will sacrifice. 11 And he will slaughter it on the altar's thigh, northward, before Yahweh, and the sons of Aaron, the priests, will throw its blood on the altar around. 12 And he will carve it into its cuts, and its head, and its suet, and the priest will arrange them on the wood which is on the fire which is on the altar. 13 And the offal and the limbs he will wash in water. And the priest will sacrifice the whole, and he grill the whole upon the altar. It is an offering, fiery, a comforting scent for Yahweh.¶

14 And if from the fowl he will raise his sacrifice for Yahweh, and he will bring from the turtle-doves, or from the sons of pigeons his sacrifice. 15 And the priest will bring it upon the alter, and wring off its head, and roast it onto the altar, and its blood will be found on the wall of the altar. 16 And he removed its feathery vestment, and he cast it into the altar, eastward, to the place the fat runs. 17 And he will tear it by its wings, he will not split, and the priest will grill it upon the altar, on the wood which is on the fire. It is a sacrifice, fiery comforting scent for Yahweh.•

1 And a soul that brings a grain offering to Yahweh, of fine flour will his sacrifice be, and he will pour oil upon it, and placed upon it frankincense. 2 And he will bring it to the sons of Aaron, the priests, and he will pinch from there his fill of pinches of its fine flour and its oil, complete with its frankincense, and the priest will raise the memorial altarward, a fiery comfort smell for Yahweh. 3 And the remainder from the offering, [will be] for Aaron and for his sons, holy of holies among Yahweh's men.•

4 And if you will bring an oven baked grain offering, loaves of fine flour, unleavened bread mixed with oil, and unleavened bread bits spread with oil.•

5 And if your sacrifice is a pan grilled grai offering, it will be of fine flour mixed with oil, unleavened bread. 6 crumble it to crumbs, and pour oil upon it, it is a grain offering.•

7 And if your grain offering is a pot sacrifice, make it fine flour in oil. 8 And you will bring the grain offering which will be made of these to Yahweh, and give it to the priest, and he will bring it to the altar. 9 And the priest will raise up from the offering your memorial, and he will grill it on the altar, fiery comfort scent for Yahweh. 10 And the remainder from the grain offer is for Aaron and his sons, holiest of holy among Yahweh's men.

11 All the grain offering which you will sacrifice to Yahweh, you will not make of leavening. Because of all yeast and all honey, none will not be offered for Yahweh. 12 An offering of first-fruit will you sacrifice them for Yahweh, and they will not onto the altar come up, as a comfort smell.

13 And all your sacrificial offerings salt with salt, and you will not deny the salt of your God's covenant from over your offerings. Upon all your offerings, you will sacrifice salt.•

14 And if you will sacrifice a first-grain offering for Yahweh, spring-ripened roasted in fire, the offerings of your ground-meal of the field, the offering of your first-grain. 15 And you will give oil upon, and you will place frankincense upon it. 12 And if a goat is his sacrifice, and he will sacrifice it before Yahweh. 13 And he will rest his hand on its head, and he will slaughter it before the tent of events. And the sons of Aaron will throw its blood on the altar around. 14 And he will sacrifice from it his sacrifice, fiery for Yahweh, the fat which covers the offal, and all the fat which is on the offal. 15 And the two kidneys and the fat which is on them, which is on the loins, and the rest, on the liver, on the kidneys, he will remove. 16 And the priest will grill them on the altar, fiery bread for comfort scent, all the fat, for Yahweh.

17 An eternal statute for your generations, in all your settlements, all fat and all blood you will not eat.¶

Chapter 4[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying:

A soul which will sin by mistake of any of Yahweh's commandments, which he will not perform, and he shall perform one of these.

3 If the anointed priest will sin, to th blamed of the people, and he will sacrifice for his sin which he has sinned a plain male bull cattle for Yahweh, for sins. 4 And he will bring the bull to the opening of the tent of events before Yahweh, and he will rest his hand on the head of the bull, and he will slaughter the bull before Yahweh. 5 And the anointed priest will take from the blood of the bull, and bring it to the tent of events. 6 And the priest will dip his finger in the blood, and drip from the blood seven times, before Yahweh, to the face of the holy curtain. 7 And the priest will give of the blood on the horns of the altar of the incense offer, before Yahweh, who is in the tent of events. And all the blood of the bull he will pour into the base of the altar of offering which is at the opening of the tent of events.

8 And all the fat of the sinstuff bull he will lift off of it, the fat which covers the offal, and all the fat which is on the offal. 9 And the two kidneys and the fat which is on them, which is on the loins, and the remainder on the liver, on the kidneys, he shall remove. 10 Like it is lifted from the ox of the payment sacrifice, and he will grill them, the priest, on the altar of offerings. 11 And the skin of the bull and all its meat, on its head and on its limbs, and its offal, and its dung. 12 And he will take the entire bull to outside the camp, to a pure place, to the fat runoff, and he will burn it on wood, in fire. Over the fat runoff it will burn.

13 And if all the congregation of Israel will err, and the thing is hidden from the sight of the crowd, and they do one of all Yahweh's commandments which is not to be done, and they are guilty. 14 And the sins which they have sinned of became known, and the crowd will sacrifice a male bull cattle, and they will bring it before the tent of events. 15 And the elders of the congregation will rest their hands on the head of the bull before Yahweh, and he will slaughter the bull before Yahweh.

16 And the anointed priest will bring of the blood of the bull to the tent of events. 17 And the priest will dip his finger of the blood, and he will drip seven times before Yahweh, at the face of the curtain. 18 And from the blood he will give on the horns of the altar which is before Yahweh, which is in the tent of events, and all the blood he will pour into the base of the altar of offerings, which is at the opening of the tent of events. 19 And all its fat he will lift off of it, and he will grill on the altar. 20 And he did to the bull as he does to the sinstuff bull, thus he will do to it. And the priest atoned over them, and it will be forgiven of them. 21 And he will remove the bull to outside the camp, and he will burn it as he burned the earlier bull. It is the sinstuff of the crowd.¶

22 When a prince will sin, and he did of one of the commandments of Yahweh his god which is not to be done, in error, and he is guilty, 23 or his sin which he sinned in will be made known to him, and he will bring his sacrifice a plain male goat. 24 And he will rest his head on the head of the goat, and he will slaughter it in the place which the offering will be slaughtered, before Yahweh. It is sinstuff.

25 And the priest will take from the blood of the sinstuff in his finger, and he will put it on the horns of the altar of offerings, and its blood he will pour into the base of the altar of offerings. 26 And he will grill all its fat on the altar, as the fat of the payment offering, and the priest will atone him from his sin, and it will be forgiven of him.¶

27 And if a single soul will sin by mistake, of the ordinary people, in doing of one of Yahweh's commandments that which is not to be done, and he is guilty, 28 or his sin which he has sinned will be made known to him, and he will bring his sacrifice a she-goat, plain female, for his sin which he has sinned. 29 And he rested his hand on the head of the sinstuff, and he slaughtered the sinstuff in the place of offerings.

30 And the priest will take from its blood with his finger, and he put it on the horns of the altar of offerings, and all its blood he will pour into the base of the altar. 31 And all its fat he will remove, as the fat of the payment offering is removed. And the priest will grill it on the later, for comforting scent to Yahweh. And the priest will atone over him, and it will be forgiven of him.¶

32 And if he will bring a sheep as his offering, for sinstuff, plain female he will bring it. 33 And he will rest his hand on the head of the sinstuff, and he slaughter it, for sinstuff, in the place where the offering will be slaughtered.

34 And the priest will take from the blood of the sinstuff, with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of offerings, and all its blood he will pour into the base of the altar. 35 And he will remove all its fat, as the fat of the sheep of the payment offering, and the priest will grill them on the altar, on Yahweh's fires, and the priest will atone him of his sin which he has sinned, and it will be forgiven of him.¶

Chapter 5[edit]

1 And a soul which will sin, and heard the cursed voice, and he is a witness, or he has seen, or known, if he will not say so, and he carried his wrong. 2 Or a soul which touches of anything impure, or of the corpse of an impure animal or of the corpse of an impure beast, or of the corpse of an impure vermin, and ignores it, and he is impure and guilty. 3 Or if he will touch in the impurity of man, in all his impurity which he will purify in, and ignores it, and he knows and is guilty. 4 Or a soul which swears to enunciate the evil with his lips, or to improve, to all that man enunciates in oath, and ignores, and he knew and is guilty, to one of these.

5 And it will be that he was accused of one of these, and he attested that he had sinned over this. 6 And he brought his guilt to Yahweh over his sin which he sinned, a female from the flock, a sheep, or a she-goat--- for sinstuff. And the priest atoned him of his sin.

7 And if his means do not allow a sheep, and he brought of his guilt which he had sinned two turtledoves or two pigeons, for Yahweh, one for sinstuff, and one for raised offer. 8 And he brought them to the priest, and he sacrificed that which is for sinstuff first, and he wrung his head off from against his throat, but he will not split. 9 And he will drip from the blood of the sinstuff on the wall of the altar, and the rest of the blood will be found at the base of the altar--- it is sinstuff. 10 And the second he will make a raised offer, as the judgement, and the priest will atone him of his sin which he has sinned, and it will be forgiven of him.

11 And if his means do not allow two turtledoves, or two pigeons, and he will bring his sacrifice which he has sinned, a tenth of an epha of fine flour for the sinstuff, and he will not put oil on it, and he will not give frankincense on it, because it is sinstuff. 12 And he will bring it to the priest, and the priest will pinch off it his fill of pinches, for memorial, and he grilled it on the altar, on Yahweh;s fires. It is sinstuff. 13 And the priest will atone him of his sin which he has sinned, from one of these, and it will be forgiven of him, and it will be for the priest a meal offer.

14 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

15 A soul who will a transgression transgress, and he sinned by mistake, from Yahweh's holy people, and he brought for his guilt to Yahweh a plain ram from the flock, in your estimation, of silver shekels, as the holy standard shekel, for guilt offer. 16 And from that which he has sinned in the holy-place he will pay, and a fifth part will be added to it, and he gave it to the priest, and the priest will atone for him with the guilt ram, and it will be forgiven of him.¶

17 And if a soul which will sin, and did one from all the commandments of Yahweh which is not to be done, and did not know, and is guilty, and carried his wrong, 18 And he brought a plain ram from the sheep, in your estimation for the guilt, to the priest. And the priest atoned for him on his error which he has erred, and he did not know, and it will be forgiven of him. 19 It is a guilt offer, guilt of the guilty for Yahweh.¶

20 And Yahweh spoke to Moses saying:

21 A soul which will sin, and a transgression transgressed of Yahweh, and he deceived his friend in deposit, or in keeping or in embezzlement, or swindled his friend. 22 Or found a lost animal and denied this of it, and swore to a lie, on one of all that man will do to sin with. 23 And it was that he sinned and is guilty, and he returned the embezzlement which he embezzled, or the swindle which he swindled, or the collateral which was deposited with him, or the lost animal which he found, 24 or over all that he swore to, in lie, and he paid it off first, and its fifth will be added to it, for him that he will give it to on the day of his conviction.

25 And his guilt he will bring to Yahweh, a plain ram from the flocks, in your estimation of the guilt, to the priest. 26 And the priest absolved him before Yahweh, and it will be forgiven of him, for one of all that he will do, to be guilty of.¶

Chapter 6[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Command Aaron and his sons, saying--

This is the teaching of the raised offer, it is the offer on the stakes on the altar. All night, until morning, and the fire of the altar will be stoked within.

3 And the priest will wear his size cloth, and will wear cloth pants on his flesh, and he lifted the runoff which the fire will consume off the offer on the altar, and they put it by the altar. 4 And he stripped off his clothes, and wore other clothes, and he will take the runoff out to outside the encampment to a pure place.

5 And the fire on the altar, you will stoke it, it will not go out, and the priest will burn on it wood at morning each morning, and he will arrange the offering upon it, and grill upon it the fat of the payment offerings. 6 A fire will always be stoked on the altar, it will not go out.•

7 And this is the teaching of the meal-offering. Bring it near, the sons of Aaron, before Yahweh, before the altar. 8 And lift of it in its pinches, from the fine flour of the offering, and from its oils, and all the frankincense which is on the meal offering, and grilled on the altar, comforting memorial scent for Yahweh. 9 And the remainder from it Aaron and his sons will eat. Unleavened bread will be eaten in a holy place, in the courtyard of the tent of events they will eat it.

10 You will not bake leavening. Their part, I have given it from my fires, holy of holies is it, as the sinstuff and the guilt-offer. 11 All the males of the sons of Aaron will eat it, an eternal statute to your generations, from the fires of Yahweh, all who shall touch them will be blessed.¶

12 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

13 This is the sacrifice of Aaron and his sons which they will sacrifice to Yahweh on the day that He anoints him: a tenth of an eipha of fine-ground flour meal offering, always, half of it at morning, and half at evening. 14 On a pan, in oil, will you make it. You will bring it soaked. You will bake me an offering of unleavened bread-bits, sacrificed, a comfort smell for Yahweh. 15 And the priest anointing under him from his sons will do this, an eternal statute for Yahweh, grilled in its entirety. 16 And all the offering of a priest will be entire, It will not be eaten.[1][2]

17 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

18 Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying

This is the teaching of the sin offer: in the place which you will slaughter the offering, you will slaughter the sinstuff, before Yahweh, It is holy of holies. 19 The priest who renders it sinstuff will eat it. In the holy place it will be eaten, in the courtyard of the tent of events. 20 All that will touch of its meat will be blessed, and who will drip of its blood, of the clothing on which it will be dripped, you will wash it in a holy place. 21 And the earthenware which it will be cooked in will be broken, and if it is cooked in copper pots, and it will be scrubbed and washed in water. 22 All the males of the priests will eat of it, it is holy of holies. 23 And all sinstuff of which of its blood will be brought to the tent of events, to atone in the holy place, you will not eat. In the fire it will be burned.¶

Chapter 7[edit]

1 And this is the teaching of the guilt-offer: it is holy of holies.

2 In the place where they will slaughter the raised offer, they will slaughter the guilt offer, and its blood will be thrown on the altar, around. 3 And all its fat will be sacrificed off it, the tail fat, and the fat which covers the offal. 4 And the two kidneys, and the fat which is on them, which is on the loins, and the remainder on the liver, he will remove. 5 And the priest grilled them on the altar, which is for Yahweh, it is a guilt offer.

6 All the males of the priests will eat it, in a holy place it will be eaten. It is holy of holies. 7 As for the sinstuff, so for the guilt offer. They have one teaching. The priest who will atone with it, it will be for him. 8 And the priest who sacrifices a man's offering, the hide of the raised offer which he sacrificed, will be for him, the priest.

9 And all meal offerings which you will bake in the oven, and all that is made in the pot or in the pan, for the priest who sacrifices it, it will be for him. 10 And all meal offering mixed in oil, or dry, it will be for all the sons of Aaron, each man as his brother.¶

11 And this is the teaching of the meal offering which will be sacrificed for Yahweh. 12 If they will sacrifice it for giving thanks, and he sacrificed over the thanks-offer unleavened bread-cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened bread-bits spread with oil, and soaked fine flour, cakes mixed with oil. 13 Over cakes of leavened bread he will present his sacrifice, for a sacrifice of thanks for his wellness.

14 And he presented of it one from each sacrifice, a donation for Yahweh. For the priest who throws the blood of the payment offer, it will be for him. 15 And the meat of the sacrifice of thanks for his wellness, he will eat on the day of his sacrifice. He will not leave of it til morning.

16 And if it is a vow or a charity offer, the sacrifice offer, on the day that they will present his sacrifice, he will eat, and on the next day, the remainder of it will be eaten. 17 And the remainder from the meat of the sacrifice, on the third day, will be burned in fire. 18 And eat, if he eats from the meat of his payment offer on the third day, it won't be wanted--- he who sacrifices it, it will not count in his favor, it will be an abomination, and the soul that eats from it will carry an ill deed.

19 And the meat which will touch anything defiled will not be eaten. In the fire it will be burned. And the flesh which is pure will eat meat.[3] 20 And the soul which eats the meat from the payment offering which is for Yahweh, and his defilement is upon him, and this soul will be cut off from its people. 21 And the soul which touches in anything defiled, in the defiled of man or of beast, a defilement or any defiled rubbish, and ate from the meat of the payment sacrifice which is for Yahweh, and this soul will be cut off from its people.

22 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

23 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying

All fat of bull and sheep and goat, you will not eat. 24 And the fat of carrion and the fat of predation will be used for all craftwork, but eat, you will not eat it. 25 Because any that eats fat from the beast, who will fiery sacrifice from it to Yahweh, and the soul that eats will be cut off from its people.

26 And all blood you will not eat, in all your settlements, of bird and of beast. 27 Any soul that eats any blood, and that soul will be cut off from its people.

28 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

29 Speak to the sons of Israel saying:

He who presents the payment sacrifice to Yahweh, will bring his sacrifice to Yahweh, from his payment offering. 30 His hands will bring, to the fires of Yahweh, the fat on the breast. He will bring it, the breast, to wave it as a wave-offer before Yahweh. 31 And the priest grilled the fat on the altar, and the breast will be for Aaron, and his sons.

32 And the right thigh you will donate to the priest from your payment offerings. 33 He who sacrifices the blood of payment offering, and the fat, from the sons of Aaron, the right thigh will be for him, as a serving. 34 Because the waving breast and the donation thigh, I took it from the sons of Israel, from the sacrifices of their payment offers, and I will give them to Aaron the priest and his sons, for an eternal statute, from the sons of Israel. 35 This is Aaron's anointment and his sons' anointment, from the men of Yahweh, on the day they will be sacrificed to Yahweh's priest. 36 That which Yahweh commanded to give to them, on the day they were anointed, from the sons of Israel, an eternal statute, onto their generations.

37 And this is the teaching for the meal offering raised, and for the sins offer, and for the guilt offer, and for the fulfilment offer, and for the sacrifice of the payment offer. 38 That which Yahweh commanded of Moses on mount Sinai, on the day he commanded him of the sons of Israel, to sacrifice their sacrifices to Yahweh, in the Sinai desert.

7 And Moses said to Aaron: "Approach the altar, and make your sin offer and your raised offer, and atone for yourself and for the people, and make the people's offer, and atone for them, as Yahweh had commanded."

8 And Aaron approached the altar, and he slaughtered the sinstuff calf, for himself. 9 And the sons of Aaron brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood, and he put it on the horns of the altar, and the blood he poured into the base of the altar. 10 And the fat, and the kidneys, and the remainder from the liver, for the sinstuff, he grilled on the altar, as Yahweh had commanded of Moses. 11 And the meat, and the hide, he burned in fire, outside the camp.

12 And he slaughtered the raised offer, and the sons of Aaron manifested the blood to him, and they threw it on the altar, around. 13 And the alter, they manifested it to its cuts, and the head, and he grilled on the altar. 14 And he washed the offal, and the limbs, and he grilled the raised offer on the altar. 15 And he sacrificed the people's sacrifice, and he took the sinstuff goat, which was for the people, and he slaughtered it and did to it as to sinstuff, as the first.

16 And he slaughtered the raised offer, and did as is the statute. 17 And he sacrificed the meal offer, and he filled his palm from it, and he grilled on the altar, apart from the raised offer of the morning. 18 And he slaughtered the ox and the ram, the payment offer which was for the people, and the sons of Aaron manifested the blood to him, and he threw it on the altar, around. 19 And the fatstuff from the bull and from the ram, the tail-fat and the covering of the kidney, and the extra on the liver. 20 And the put the fatstuff on the breasts, and they grilled the fatstuff on the altar. 21 And the breasts, and the right thigh, Aaron waved as a wave-offer before Yahweh, as Moses commanded.

22 And Aaron lifted his hand to the people, and he blessed them, and he came down from making the sin and raised offer, and the payment offer. 23 And Moses and Aaron came to the tent of events and the left, and they blessed the people, and Yahweh's honor appeared to all the people. 24 And a fire came out from before Yahweh, and consumed, over the altar, the raised-offer and the fatstuff, and all the people saw and they feared, and they fell on their faces.

Chapter 10[edit]

1 And the sons of Aaron, Nadav and Avihu, each took from their sinstuff and they put fire to them, and they put incense upon it, and they sacrificed before Yahweh, on a foreign fire, which was not commanded of them. 2 And a fire came out from before Yahweh, and consumed them, and they died before Yahweh.

3 And Moses said to Aaron: "That is what Yahweh spoke, saying: that with me I shall bless, and in front of all the people, I will be respected." And Aaron fell silent.

4 And Moses called to Mishael and Eltzaphan, the sons of 'uzi-el, Aaron's uncle, and said to them: "approach and carry your brothers from facing the holiness, to outside the camp." 5 And they came close, and they carried them in their cloaks, to outside the camp, as Moses spoke.

6 And Moses said to Aaron, and El'azar and Ithamar his sons:

Do not muss your hair, and your clothes you will not fray, and you will not die, and against all the congregation he will foam. And your brothers, all the house of Israel, will weep over the fire which Yahweh lit. 7 And from the opening of the tent of events, you will not leave, lest you die, because the oil of Yahweh's anointing is upon you."

And they did as Moses said.¶

8 And Yahweh spoke to Aaron, saying:

9 Do not drink wine and spirits, you and your sons with you, when you come to the tent of events, and you will not die. An eternal statute to your generations. 10 And to separate between the holy and the lay, and between the impure and the pure. 11 And to instruct the sons of Israel of all the laws which Yahweh spoke to you, in the hand of Moses.¶

12 And Moses spoke to Aaron, and to El'azar and Ithamar his remaining sons:

Take the meal offering that remains from the men of Yahweh, and eat its unleavened bread by the altar, because it is holy of holies. 13 And you ate it in a holy place. This is your ration and your sons ration, of Yahweh's men, because I commanded it so. 14 And the wave-offer breast and the donation thigh you will eat in a pure place, you and your sons and your daughters with you. Because your ration and your son's ration will be given from the payment offerings of the sons of Israel. 15 The donation thigh and the wave-offer breast, will be brought onto the fires of the fat, to wave as wave-offer before Yahweh. And it was to you and your sons with you, as an eternal statute, as Yahweh commanded.

16 And Moses demanded and demanded the sinstuff goat, and here it is burnt, and he foamed on El'azer and Ithamar, the remaining sons of Aaron, saying:

17 Why did you not eat the sinstuff in a holy place? Because it is holy of holies. And now it is given of you to carry the illdeeds of the congregation, to atone for them before Yahweh. 18 That it was not brought, it's blood, to within the holy place. Eat, you will eat it in the holy place as I have commanded.

19 And Aaron spoke to Moses: "If they today sacrificed their sins and their raised offers before Yahweh, and a thing would be to me as this: that I ate sinstuff today, will it be good in Yahweh's eyes?" 20 And Moses heard, and it was good in his eyes.¶

Chapter 11[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them:

2 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying

These are the animals which you will eat, from all the beasts which are on the Earth:

3 All whose hoof is parted, and cleft with a hoof cloven, chewing cud, of the beast you will eat. 4 But of these you will not eat, of those chewing cud, and hoof cleft cloven: the camel, because it chews its cud, and its hoof it is not cloven--- it is defiled to you. 5 And the rock hyrax, because it chews its cud, and its hoof it is not cloven, it is defiled to you. 6 And the rabbit, because it chews its cud, and its hoof it is not cloven, it is defiled to you. 7 And the pig, because its hoof is parted, and it has hoofs cloven clefts, but chew, it will not chew its cud. It is defiled to you. 8 From their flesh you will not eat, and their corpses you will not touch. They are defiled to you.

9 These you will eat from all that is in the water: all which has fin and scales in the water, in the seas and in the streams, these you will eat. 10 And all which does not have a fin and scales in the seas and in the streams, of all that infests the water and from all living animal which is in the water, they are an abomination to you. 11 And they will be abomination to you. From their flesh you will not eat, and their corpses you will abhor. 12 All which does not have fin and scales in the water, it is an abomination to you.

13 And these you will abhor from the fowl. They will not be eaten, they are abominations. The eagle and the vulture and the osprey, 14 and the kite and the falcon, of its kinds, 15 the raven, of its kinds 16 and the ostrich, and the night hawk, and the seagull and the hawk, of its kinds, 17 and the small owl, and the cormorant, and the big owl, 18 and the horned owl, and the pelican and the vulture, 19 and the stork, and the heron, of its kinds, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

20 All the flying vermin which walks on fours, it is an abomination to you. 21 Only of this will you eat from all the vermin fowl which walks on fours, that which has jointed thighs above its feet, to leap with them on the earth. 22 From them, of these you will eat: the locust of its kinds, and the bald-locust of its kinds, and the cricket of its kinds, and the grasshopper of its kinds.

23 And all the flying vermin which has four legs, it is an abomination to you. 24 And to these you will be defiled, all that touches their corpse will be defiled until evening. 25 And all that carries their corpse will wash his clothes, and is defiled until the evening.

26 And for all the beast which is parts of hoof but does not cleave its hoof, and does not chew cud, they are defiled to you, all that touches them will be defiled. 27 And all that walks on its palms, of all the animals that walk on fours, they are defiled to you. All that touches their corpse will be be defiled until the evening. 28 And he who carries their corpse will wash his clothes, and is defiled until the evening. They are defiled to you.

29 And this to you is the impure of the vermin that infests the Earth: the weasel and the mouse, and the turtle, of its kind. 30 And the gecko, and the land-crocodile and the lizard and the sand-lizard, and the chameleon.

31 These are the impure to you of all the vermin. All that touches them at their death will be defiled until the evening. 32 And all upon whom they shall fall in their death will be defiled, from all wood implements or cloth or leather or sackcloth, any implement which work is done with, will be brought into water, and is defiled, until the evening, and it purifies. 33 And any earthenware into which one of these falls into, all that is within it will be defiled, and you will break it. 34 From any food which is eaten, onto which water will come, will be defiled. And any drink which will be drunk, in any implement, will be defiled. 35 And all upon which their corpses shall fall upon, will be defiled. Oven and washbasin will be smashed, they are defiled, and they will be defiled to you. 36 Only a fountain or well water-source will be pure. And it touches their corpses, and it will be defiled. 37 And if their corpse will fall on any seeded seed which is seeded, it is pure. 38 And if water will be given on the seed, and their corpse fell upon it, it is defiled to you.•

39 And if, of the beasts which are for you for eating, one dies, one who touches its corpses will be defiled until the evening. 40 And one who eats of its corpse will wash his clothes, and is defiled until the evening. And one who carries its corpse will wash his clothes, and is defiled until the evening.

41 And all the vermin that infests the Earth, it is an abomination, it will not be eaten. 42 All the walks on its torso, and all that walks on four, unto any centipede, onto all the vermin that infests the earth--- you will not eat them, because they are an abomination. 43 Do not abominate your souls in all the vermin that infests, and do not defile in them, and you were defiled by them. 44 Because I am Yahweh your God, and you were blessed holy and became holy, because I am holy. And you will not defile your souls in all the vermin that crawls on the earth. 45 Because I am Yahweh, who raises you from the land of Egypt, to be a god for you, and you became blessed holy, because I am holy.

46 This is the teaching of the beast and the fowl, and all the living soul that wriggles in the water, and all the soul that infests the Earth. 47 To distinguish between defiled and pure, and between the animal that is eaten and between the animal which will not be eaten.¶

Chapter 12[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying:

A woman who will bear seed, and gave birth to a male, and she is defiled for seven days. As the days of her menstruation impurity, so she will be defiled. 3 And on the eighth day, the flesh of his foreskin will be circumcised. 4 And thirty three days, she will sit in the blood of her purification. Of anything holy, she will not touch, and to the temple she will not come, until the fulfillment of her purification days.

5 And if she gives birth to a female, and her impurity is two weeks, as her menstruation, and sixty six days she will sit on the blood of her purification. 6

And on the fulfillment of the days of purification, for a son or a daughter, she will bring a sheep of one year as a raised offer, and a pigeon or turtle-dove for a sin offer, to the opening of the tent of events, to the priest. 7 And they will sacrifice it before Yahweh, and atone for her, and purify her from her source of her blood. This is the teaching of the birth-giver, to a male or to a female.

8 And if her reach does not amount enough for a sheep, and she took two turtle doves or two pigeons, one for raised offer, and one for sinstuff, and the priest atoned for her, and purified her.¶

Chapter 13[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:

2 A man whose skin has a swelling or bruise or rash, and it becomes in the skin of his flesh into a leprosy affliction, and he well be brought to Aaron the priest, or to one of his priest sons. 3 And the priest looked at the affliction in the skin of the flesh, and the hair in the affliction turned white, and the the affliction looks deeper than the skin of the the flesh, it is the affliction of leprosy, and the priest saw it and made him defiled.

4 And if it is a white rash in the skin of his flesh, and it does not appear deeper than the skin, and the hair did not turn white, and the priest enclosed the afflicted seven days. 5 And the priest saw him on the seventh day, and here the affliction will shown to him. If the affliction did not spread in the skin, and the priest enclosed the afflicted seven days, a second time. 6 And the priest saw on the seventh day, a second time, and here the affliction is fainter, and the the affliction did not spread in the skin, and the priest purified him, this is a bruise, and he washed his clothes and was purified. 7 And spread, if it spread, the bruise on the skin, after he was shown to the priest for his purification, and he was shown a second time to the priest. 8 And the priest saw, here the bruise has spread in the skin, and the priest made him defiled. This is leprosy.¶

9 The affliction of leprosy, if it is in a man, and he will be brought to the priest. 10 And the priest saw, and here is a white swelling in the skin, and it turned the skin white, and there is exposed raw flesh in the swelling. 11 It is a preexisting leprosy in the skin of his flesh, and the priest made him defiled. They will not enclose him, because he is defiled. 12 And bloom the leprosy blooms in the skin, and the leprosy covers the entire skin of the afflicted, from his head to his feet, all the the sight of the eyes of the priest. 13 And the priest saw, and here the leprosy covered the whole flesh, and he purified the affliction. If it all turns white, he is pure.

14 And on the day that raw flesh is seen with it, he will be made impure. 15 And the priest saw the raw flesh, and made him impure. And the raw flesh it is defiled, it is leprosy. 16 Or if the raw flesh returns and becomes white, and he comes to the priest. 17 And the priest saw him, and here the affliction has turned white. And the priest purified the affliction, it is pure.¶

18 And flesh that has pox in his skin, and is healed, 19 and there was in place of the pox, a white swelling or a white reddish rash, and he will be shown to the priest. 20 And the priest saw, and here it appears depressed into the skin, and the hair has become white, and the priest made him defiled. It is the affliction of leprosy which has bloomed in the pox.

21 And if the priest will see it, and here there is no white hair in it, and it is not depressed into skin, and it is fainter, and the priest enclosed him seven days. 22 And if spread it has spread in the skin, and the priest made him defiled--- it is an affliction. 23 And if the rash will stay under this, and did not spread, it is the scar of the pox, and the priest will purify him.•

24 Or flesh that will be burns in its skin. And the exposed flesh of the burn was a white reddish rash, or white. 25 And the priest saw it, and here the hair has turned white in the rash, and it appears depressed into the skin, it is leprosy. It has bloomed in the burn. And the priest made him defiled, it is the affliction of leprosy. 26 And if the priest will see that here there is no white hair in the rash, and it is not depressed into the skin, and it is faint, and the priest enclosed him seven days. 27 And the priest saw him on the seventh day. If spread it did spread in the skin, and the priest made him defiled. It is the affliction of leprosy. 28 And if the rash will stay under this, it does not spread in the skin, and it is faint, it is the swelling of the burn. And the priest purified him, because it is the scar of the burn.¶

29 And a man or woman that will have an affliction in him, in the head or in the beard. 30 And the priest saw the affliction, and here it appears deeper than the skin, and within it is fine yellow hair, and the priest made him defiled. It is a scale, it is the leprosy of the head or beard. 31 And if the priest will see the scale affliction, and here its appears to be not deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair within it, and the priest enclosed the scale afflicted seven days.[5] 32 And the priest saw the affliction on the seventh day, and here the scale has not spread, and there will not be yellow hair in it, and the scale does not appear deeper than the skin, 33 and he will shave, and the affliction he will not shave. And the priest will enclose the scale seven days, a second time. 34 And the priest saw the scale on the seventh day. And here, the scale has not spread in the skin, and its appears to be not deeper than the skin, and the priest purificed him, and he washed his clothes, and was purified.

35 And spread if the scale did spread in the skin, after his purification. 36 And the priest saw him, and here the scale has spread in the skin, the priest will not wrangle over the yellow hair--- he is defiled. 37 And if in his eyes the scale has stayed and black hair has grown in it, the scale has healed. He is pure, and the priest purified him.[6]

38 And a man or woman who will have in the skin of their flesh rashes, white rashes. 39 And the priest saw, and here in the skin of their flesh there are white rashes. It is better which has bloomed in the skin, he is pure.•

40 And a man whose hair will fall, he is balding, he is pure. 41 And if from the front of his head, his hair will fall, his forehead receded, he is pure. 42 But if there will be in the bald-spot or in the receded forehead a white reddish affliction, it is leprosy blooming in his bald-spot or receded forehead. 43 And the priest saw him, and here the swelling of the affliction is reddish white, in his bald spot, or in his receded forehead, as appears the leprosy of the skin of the flesh. 44 He is a leper, he is defiled. The priest will be defiled, he has touched his head.

45 And the leper which has the affliction within him, he clothes will be rent, and his hair will be wild, and will wrap onto his upper lip. And he will call "defiled, defiled". 46 And all the days that his affliction is in him, defiled he is defiled. He will sit alone, his settlement outside the camp.•

47 And the cloth which will have within it the affliction of leprosy, the wool cloth or linen cloth, 48 or in the warp or in the woof, for the linen and the cloth, or in the leather, or in anything worked of leather. 49 And if the affliction is greenish or reddish, in the cloth or in the leather, or in the warp or in the woof, or in all the implements of leather, it is the affliction of leprosy, and it will be shown to the priest. 50 And the priest saw the affliction, and he shut up the afflicted thing seven days. 51 And he saw the affliction on the seventh day, if the affliction has spread in the cloth, or in the warp or in the woof, or in the leather, in all that leather shall make, for work, the affliction is hurrying leprosy, it is defiled.

52 And he burned the cloth or the warp or the woof, of wool or of linen, or any of the leather implements which will have the affliction within it, because it is a hurrying leprosy, it will be burned in fire. 53 And if the priest will see that here the affliction did not spread in the cloth or in the warp or woof, or in any of the implements of leather. 54 And the priest commanded, and they washed that which has the affliction in it, and they enclosed it seven days again. 55 And the priest saw after the affliction had been washed, and here the affliction did not alter in his eyes, and the affliction did not spread, it is defiled, you will burn it in fire because the leprosy is at the extremities of the cloth, or all through.[7] 56 And if the priest saw, and here the affliction is faded after it has been washed, and he ripped it out of the cloth or from the leather or from the warp or from the woof.

57 And if you will see it again in the cloth or in the warp or in the woof or in any of the implements of leather, it is a growth. You will burn in fire that which it has touched. 58 And the cloth or the warp or the woof or all the implements of leather which you will was and the affliction is removed from them, and wash them again, and purify.

59 This is the teaching of the affliction of leprosy of wool or linen cloth, or the warp or the woof, or any of the implements of leather, for its purification or its defilement.¶

Chapter 14[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 This will be the teaching of the leper, on the day of his purification, having been brought to the priest. 3 And the priest will go outside the encampment, and the priest will see, that here the affliction of leprosy has been healed from the leper. 4 And the priest will command and take to the [person] being purified two pure live birds, and cedar wood, crimson[-colored wool] and hyssop. 5 And the priest will command to have one bird slaughtered into an earthen pot over running water. 6 And the living bird, he will take it, and the cedar wood, and the crimson[-colored wool] and the hyssop, and he dip them and the living bird in the blood of the slaughtered bird, over fresh water. 7 And he will sprinkle on the [person] being purified of leprosy seven times, and he will be purified; then he set the living bird free over the field.

8 And the [person] being purified shall wash his clothes and shave all of his hair, and wash in water, and he be purified; afterwards, he will come into the encampment, and he will sit outside his tent seven days. 9 And it was on the seventh day, he will shave all his hair, his head, and his beard, and his eyebrows and all his hair he will shave. And he wash his clothes, and he wash his flesh in water, and be purified.

10 And on the eighth day, he will take two unblemished male sheep, and one unblemished female sheep, one year old, and three tenths [eipha] of fine flour meal offer mixed with oil, and one lohg of oil. 11 And the purifying priest will stand the person being purified and these before Yahweh at the entrance of the tent of gathering. 12 And the priest will take one of the rams, and sacrifice it for guilt-offering, and the lohg of oil, and he wave it before Yahweh. 13 And he shall slaughtered the sheep, in the place where he slaughters the sin-offeings and the raised-offerings, in the holy place, because as a sin-offeing guilt-offer is this, for the priest. It is for the holy of holies. 14 And the priest will take from the blood of the guilt-offer, and the priest will sprinkle it on the right ear lobe of the [person] being purified, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the thumb of his right foot. 15 And the priest will take of the lohg of oil, and he poured it on the priest's left palm. 16 And the priest shall dip his right finger into the oil which is on his left palm, and he sprinkle from the oil with his finger seven times before Yahweh. 17 And the remainder of the oil which is on his palm, the priest will put on the right ear lobe of the purified, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big-toe of his right foot, over the blood of the guilt-offering. 18 And the rest of the oil which is on the priest's palm, he will put on the head of the [person] being purified, and the priest will atone for him before Yahweh.

19 And the priest made the guilt-offering, and atone for the [person] being purified of his defilement, and afterwards, he will slaughter the burned-offering. 20 And the priest shall offer the burned-offering and the meal-offering on the altar, and the priest will atone for him, and he will be purified.•

21 And if he is impoverished and his means do not amount to this, then he shall one sheep for wave and guilt offering, to atone for him. And one tenth [eipha] of fine-flour mixed in oil, for a meal offer, and a lohg of oil. 22 And two turtle-doves or two pigeons, whichever his means will allow: one as a sin-offering, and the other as a burned-offering. 23

And he will bring them on the eighth day, for his purification, to the priest, to the opening of the tent of gathering, before Yahweh. 24 And the priest will take the guilt-offering sheep, and the lohg of oil, and the wave them before Yahweh. 25 And he shall slaughter the guilt-offering sheep, and the priest shall take of the blood of the guilt-offering and he put it on the right earlobe of the [person] being purified, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big-toe of his right foot. 26 And from the oil, the priest will pour on the priest's left palm. 27 And the priest will sprinkle, with his right finger, from the oil which is on his right palm, seven times, before Yahweh. 28 And the priest will put of the oil which is on his palm on the earlobe of the [person] being purified and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big-toe of his right foot, over the place of the guilt-offering blood. 29 And the remainder of the oil which is on the priest's palm he will put on the head of the [person] being purified, to atone for him before Yahweh.

30 And he made one of the turtle-doves, or of the pigeons, from that which he has means for. 31 And that which he has means for, the one sin-offering, the other burned-offering, along the meal-offer, and the priest shall atone over the [person] being purified, before Yahweh. 32 This is the teaching of whom has the plague of leprosy within him, who does not have the means for his purification.¶

33 And Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:

34 But you will come to the land of Cna'an(Canaan), which I am giving you as a holding, and I will put the plague of leprosy in the house of the land of your holding. 35 And the one whose house it is will come and tell the priest, saying: "It looks to my like an affliction in the house." 36 And the priest will command, and they will empty the house, before the priest will come to see the affliction, and all that is in the house will not be defiled. And afterwards, the priest will come to see the house.

37 And he saw the affliction, and here is the affliction in the walls of the house, greenish pits, or reddish, and they appear depressed into the wall. 38 And the priest will come out of the house, to the entrance of the house, and he will close off the house seven days.

39 And the priest will return on the seventh day, and he saw, and here the affliction has spread in the walls of the house. 40 And the priest commanded, and they will release the stones which have the affliction within them, and they cast them out to outside the city, to a defiled place. 41 And the house will be scraped from inside and all around, and they poured the dust which they scraped outside the city, to a defiled place. 42 And they took other stones, and they brought them in place of the stones, and he will take other dust, and plaster the house.

43 And if the affliction and blooming will return to the house, after the stones have been released and after the house has been scraped, and after the plastering. 44 And the priest came and saw, and here the affliction has spread in the house--- it is a quick leprosy of houses, it is defiled. 45 And he smashed the house, and its stones and its wood, and all the dust of the house, and he took it out to outside the city, to a defiled place. 46 And whoever has come to the house all the days it was shut, will be defiled until evening. 47 And whoever sleeps in the house will wash his clothes, and whoever eats in the house will wash his clothes.

48 And if come the priest will come, and saw that here the affliction has not spread in the wall, after the plastering of the house, and the priest purified the house, because the affliction is healed. 49 And he took for sinstuff for the house, two birds, and cedar wood, and weave-second and hyssop. 50 And he slaughtered the one bird, into an earthen pot over running water. 51 And he took the cedar wood and the hyssop and the weave-second, and the living bird, and he dipped them in the blood of the slaughtered bird, and in the running water, and he dripped on the house, seven times. 52 And he shall de-sin the house in the blood of the bird, and with running water, and with the living bird, and the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the weave-second. 53 And he set the living bird free, outside the city, to over the field, and he atoned over the house and it will be purified.

54 This is the teaching of all that is touched by leprosy, and for scale. 55 And for leprosy of the clothes, and house. 56 And for swelling and for scab, and for rash. 57 To teach of the defiled day and on the pure day, this is the teaching for leprosy.¶

Chapter 15[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:

2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and you said to them:

Each man who will have a discharge from his flesh, his discharge, it is defiled. 3 And this will be his defilement in his discharge: whether his flesh oozes his discharge, or his flesh covers his discharge, it is his defilement. 4 All the couches which the discharger will lie upon will be defiled, and any pot which he will sits upon will be defiled. 5 And a man who will touch his couch, will wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he is defiled until evening. 6 And the one who sits on the pot which the discharger sat upon, and he will wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and he is defiled until evening. 7 And the one who touches the flesh of the discharger will wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he is defiled until the evening. 8 And if the discharger will spit on the clean, and he will wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he is defiled until the evening. 9 And all the riding-seats that the discharger will ride upon will be defiled. 10 And all that touches of all that will be under him, will be defiled until the evening. And the one that carries them will wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and will be defiled until the evening. 11 And any that the discharger touches, and his hands he did not wash in water, and he washed his clothes, and bathe in water, and is defiled until evening. 12 And any earthenware which the discharger will touch will be broken, and any wooden tool will be washed in water.

13 And if the discharger will be purified of his discharge, and counted for himself seven days of his purity, and he washed his clothes, and he bathed his flesh in running water, and he is purified. 14 And on the eighth day, he will take for himself two turtledoves or two pigeons, and he comes before Yahweh, to the opening of the tent of events, and he gave them to the priest. 15 And the priest made them, one sinstuff, the other raised offer, and the priest atones for him before Yahweh, from his discharge.•

16 And a man which a semen discharge will leave, and he bathed all his flesh in water, and he is defiled until evening. 17 And all cloth and all leather which upon it the semen discharge will be, and it will be washed in water, and it is defiled until evening. 18 And a woman, which a man will lay with discharging semen, and they bathed in water, and they are defiled until the evening.¶

19 And a woman who will be discharging, blood will be discharging in her flesh, seven days will she be in her menstrual defilement, and all that touches her will be defiled until the evening. 20 And all that she will lay upon during her menstrual defilement will be defiled, and all that she will sit upon will be defiled. 21 And all that touches her couch will wash he clothes and bathe in water, and he is defiled until the evening. 22 And all that touches any pot which she will sit upon, will wash his clothes and wash in water, and is defiled until the evening. 23 And if it is on the couch, or on the pot which she sits on, as it touched it, it will be defiled until the evening. 24 And if lay a man will lay with her, and her menstruation will be upon him, and he is defiled seven days, and all the couch which he shall lie upon will be defiled.•

25 And a woman who will discharge her bloody discharge many days, and not at the time of her menstrual period, or that will discharge beyond her menstruation period, all the days of her discharge will be defiled. She will be as the days of her menstrual period, she is defiled. 26 Any couch which she will lay on, all the days of her discharge, will be for her as the couch of her menstrual cycle, and any pot which she'll sit on will be defiled, as the defilement of her menstrual cycle. 27 And all that touches them will be defiled, and he will wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and is defiled until evening.

28 And if she is purified of her discharge, and she will count for herself seven days, and after will be purified. 29 And on the eighth day, she will take for herself two turtledoves, or two pigeons, and she brought them to the priest, to the opening of the tent of events. 30 And the priest made one sinstuff and the other raised-offer, and the priest atoned for her before Yahweh, from her discharge defilement. 31 And you estranged the sons of Israel from their defilements, and they will not die in their defilements, and defile my dwelling which is within them.

32 This is the teaching of the discharge, and of the one who will ejaculate semen, to defile with. 33 And she enfeebled with menstruation, and the discharger of his discharge, for the male and for the female, and for the man who will sleep with a defiled woman.¶

Chapter 16[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, after the death of two of Aaron's sons, as they came before Yahweh and died. 2 And Yahweh said to Moses:

Speak to Aaron, your brother, and he will not come at any time to the holy place, covered by the curtain, to facing the cover which is on the crate, and he will not die. Because in the cloud, I will appear on the cover. 3 And with this Aaron will come to the holy place, with a bull son of cattle, for sinstuff, and a ram for raised-offer. 4 He will wear a cloak of holy linen, and linen pants will be on his flesh, and he will wear a linen girdle, and he will be shrouded in a linen turban. These are holy clothes, and he will wash his flesh in water, and wear them.

5 And from the congregation of the sons of Israel, he will take two male goats, for sinstuff, and one ram, for raised-offer. 6 And Aaron sacrifieced the sinstuff bull which he has, and atoned for himself and for his household. 7 And he took the two he-goats, and he stood them before Yahweh, at the opening of the tent of events. 8 And Aaron cast lots on the two goats--- one lot for Yahweh, and one lot for 'azazel. 9 And Aaron will sacrifice the goat which upon it cast Yahweh's lot, and he made it sinstuff. 19 And the goat upon which 'azazel's lot is, will stand alive before Yahweh. To atone for him, send him to 'azalel, to the steppe.

11 And Aaron will sacrifice the sinstuff bull which he has, and atoned for himself, and for his household, and he slaughtered the sinstuff bull, which is for himself. 12 And he took a pan's worth of fire-embers from above the altar, from before yahweh, and his hand's fill of fine-ground fragrant incense, and he brought it under the curtain. 13 And he put the incense on the fire before Yahweh, and the cloud of incense covered the curtain which is on the testimony, and he will not die.

14 And he took from the blood of the bull, and he dripped with his finger on the face of the curtain forward, before the curtain he will drip seven times from the blood in his finger. 15 And he slaughtered the sinstuff bull, which is for the people, and he brought its blood to within the curtain, and he did to its blood as he did to the blood of the bull, and he dripped it in the curtain, before the curtain. 16 And he atoned over the holy place from the defilements of the sons of Israel, and from their crimes, to all their sins, and this he'll do to the tent of events, which dwells with them, within their defilement.

17 And no man will be in the tent of events when he comes to atone in the holy place, until he leaves. And he atones for himself and for his household, and for all Israel's congregation. 18 And he will leave to the altar which is before Yahweh, and he will atone over it, and he will take from the blood of the bull, and from the blood of the he-goat, and he will put it on the horns of the altar, around. 19 And he will drip over it from the blood with his finger, seven times, and they will be purified and they will be blessed, from the defilements of the sons of Israel.

20 And he finished atoning over the holy-place, and the tent of events, and the altar, and he sacrificed the living goat. 21 And Aaron rested both his hands on the head of the living goat, and attested to him over all the ill-deeds of the sons of Israel, and all their crimes, to all their sins; and he placed them on the head of the goat. And he sent it in the hand of an appointed man to the steppes. 22 And the he-goat carried upon it all their ill-deeds to a cut-off land, and he sent out the goat to the desert.

23 And Aaron comes to the tent of events, and he will disrobe of the linen clothes which he wore in coming into the holy place, and he placed them there. 24 And he washed his flesh in water in a holy place, and he wore his clothes, and he exited, and he made his raised-offer and the people's raised-offer, and atones for himself, and for the people. 25 And the sinstuff fat, he will grill on the altar.

26 And the one who sends the he-goat to 'azazel will wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterwards will come to the camp.

27 And the sinstuff bull, and the sinstuff goat, which had their blood brought to atone in the holy place, he will take out to outside the encampment, and burn them in fire, their skin and their flesh and their dung. 28 And the one who burns them, will wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterwards will return to the camp.

29 And it was for you an eternal statute: on the seventh month, on the tenth of the month, you will torment your souls, and all work you will not do--- the citizen and the stranger staying within you. 30 Because on this day, it will be atoned of you, to purify you, from all your sins before Yahweh you will be purified. 31 It is a rest-sabbath-day for you, and you tormented your souls, an eternal statute.

32 And the priest who will be anointed, who will fill his hand, to be priest under his father, will atone. And he wore the linen clothes, the holy clothes. 33 And he will atones the holy holy-place, and the tent of events, and atone over the altar, and he will atone over the priests and over all the people of the congregation.

34 And this was to you an eternal statute: to atone for the sons of Israel from all their sins, once a year, and he will do as Yahweh commanded of Moses.¶

Chapter 17[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Speak to Aaron and his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, and you said to them:

This is the thing that Yahweh commanded to say.

3 Each man from the house of Israel who will slaughter an ox or a sheep or a goat in the camp, or who will slaughter outside the camp. 4 And he did not bring it to the opening of the tent of events to sacrifice as an offering to Yahweh, by the rules of Yahweh's dwelling, it will be considered blood on that man, spilled blood, and that man will be cut off from among his people. 5 This so that the sons of Israel will bring their sacrifices which are sacrificed over the fields, and they would bring them to Yahweh to the opening of the tent of events, to the priest, and they would offer them a payment offer to Yahweh. 6 And the priest threw the blood on Yahweh's altar, at the opening of the tent of events, and he grilled the fat, for a comforting scent for Yahweh.

7 And they will no longer offer their sacrifices to goats(satyrs), which they whore after: an eternal statute this will be for you, in your generations.

8 And to them you will say: each man from the house of Israel, and from the stranger who will live among you, who will raise an offering or a sacrifices. 9 And did not bring it to the opening of the tent of events, to make it for Yahweh, and this man will be cut off from among his people. 10 And each man from the house of Israel, and from the stranger that stays within you, who would eat any blood, and I would put my face at the soul that eats the blood, and I would cut it off from amongst its people. 11 Because the soul of the flesh, it is in the blood, and I will give it to you on the altar, to atone for your souls, because it is the blood, which will atone for the soul. 12 For this reason, I said to the sons of Israel, all souls among you will not eat blood, and the stranger staying within you will not eat blood. 13 And each man from the sons of Israel, and from the stranger that stays within you who would hunt down an animal or a bird, who would eat, and he spilled its blood, and covered it in dust. 14 Because the soul of every flesh, its soul is in its blood. And say to the sons of Israel--- the blood of any flesh you will not eat, because the soul of any flesh is its blood, and any that eats it will be cut off. 15 And any soul that will eat a found-corpse or a predated-animal, of citizen and stranger, and he will wash his clothes and bathe in water, and he is defiled until evening, and he is purified. 16 And if he will not wash, and his flesh not bathe, and he carried his illdeed.¶

Chapter 18[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Speak to the sons of Israel and you said to them:

I am Yahweh, your God.

3 Do not do as the habits of Egypt, in which you were settled, and nor as the habits of the land of Canaan which I bring you to; don't follow their laws. 4 You will perform my judgements, and you will keep my laws, to walk in. I am Yahweh, your God. 5 And you kept my laws and my judgements which will be done by a man, and he lives by them. I am Yahweh.•

6 No man will approach his close kin to reveal their nakedness[8]. I am Yahweh.

7 Do not reveal the nakedness of your father and the nakedness of your mother: she is your mother. You will not reveal her nakedness.•

8 Do not reveal the nakedness of your father's wife, it is your father's nakedness.•

9 Do not reveal the nakedness of your sister, daughter of your father or daughter of your mother, born of the household, or born outside. 10 Do not reveal the nakedness of your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter, because this is your nakedness. 11 Do not reveal the nakedness of the daughter of your father's wife born of your father, she is your sister, you will not reveal her nakedness.•

12 Do not reveal the nakedness of your father's sister. She is your father's near-kin.•

13 Do not reveal the nakedness of your mother's sister, because she is your mother's near-kin.•

14 Do not reveal the nakedness of your father's brother; do not come close to his wife; she is your aunt.•

15 Do not reveal the nakedness of your daughter in law, she is your son's wife. You will not reveal her nakedness.•

16 Do not reveal the nakedness of your brother's wife's nakedness. It is your brother's nakeness.•

17 Do not reveal the nakedness of [both] a woman and her daughter. Her son's daughter and her daughter's daughter, you will not take for revealing her nakedness. They are near-kin, it is lewdness. 18 And you will not take a woman to her sister, to malign, to reveal her nakeness over her, in her lifetime.

19 And to a woman in her menstrual defilement, you will not approach to reveal her nakedness. 20 And to the wife of your friend, you must not lay down sexually, to defile her with.

21 And from your seed you will not give to pass to Molech, and you will not profane the name of your God, I am Yahweh. 22 And you will not lay with a male as one lays with a woman. It is an abomination. 23 And in any beast, you will not give your lay, to defile it, and a woman, you will not stand before a beast to serve her, it is perverted.

24 Do not defile yourselves in all of these, because in all of these the peoples who I am sending before you have been defiled. 25 And the land was defiled, and I commanded its ill-deed upon it, and the land vomited her inhabitants. 26 And you kept my laws and my rulings, and you will not do of all these abominations, the citizen, and the stranger who stays within you. 27 Because all these abominations, the people of the Earth who were before you did, and the Earth was defiled. 28 And the Earth will not vomit you up, in your defilement of it, as it vomited the nation which came before you.

29 Because any that does of any of these abominations, and the souls that do so will be cut off from among the people. 30 And you kept my commandments, to not do from the abomination statutes which were done before you, and you will not be defiled in them. I am Yahweh, your God.¶

Chapter 19[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and you said to them:

You will be holy, because I, Yahweh, your god, am holy. 3 To a man, your father and mother you will fear, and my sabbath you will keep. I am Yahweh, your god. 4 Do not turn to idols, and cast gods do not make for yourself. I am Yahweh your god.

5 And if you will sacrifice a payment sacrifice to Yahweh, you will do it of your own desire. 6 And on the day of your sacrifice you will eat, and on the next day, and the remainder onto the third day will be burned in fire. 7 And if eat it will be eaten on the third day, it is a vile thing, it will not be desired. 8 And its eater will carry his illdeed, because he defiled the holiness of Yahweh. And this soul will be cut-off from its people.

9 And in your reaping of the harvest of your land, you will not entirely reap the corner of your field, and the remainder of your harvest, you will not collect. 10 And your vineyard you will not glean, and the fallen fruit of your orchards you will not gather. You will leave them for the poor and the stranger. I am Yahweh your god.

11 And you will not steal, and you will not deny truth, and you will not lie, each man to his friend. 12 And you will not swear in my name to a lie, and you will not profane the name of your God, I am Yahweh. 13 You will not swindle your compatriot, and you will not embezzle, and you will not keep the wages due a hired man with you until morning.

14 And you will not curse the deaf, and before the blind you will not place an obstacle, and you will fear your God. I am Yahweh. 15 You will not do wrong in judgement. You will not build up of the face of the impoverished, and you will not preen over the face of a great man. With justice, you will judge your friends. 16 You will not go gossiping among your people. You will not ignore the blood of your compatriot. I am Yahweh. 17 You will not hate your brother in your heart. You will reprove your friend, but you will not carry sin upon him. 18 And you will not avenge and you will not begrudge the sons of your people. And you loved your compatriot as yourself. I am Yahweh.

19 You will keep my laws. Your beast will not be bred of two kinds, your seed you will not seed of two types, and a cloth woven of two-types of fiber will not be upon you.

20 And a man who will lay with a woman sexually, and she is a slavewoman belonging to a man, and freed she has not been freed, and her release was not given to her, he will be investigated, they will be killed. Because she is not free. 21 And he brought his guilt to Yahweh, to the opening of the tent of events--- a ram guilt offer. 22 And the priest atoned over him with the guilt-offer ram, before Yahweh, over his sin which he has sinned. And it was forgiven of him, from his sin which he has sinned.¶

23 And if you will come to the land, and you planted every tree for eating, and you discard its fruit as unclean, three years, they will be unclean, it will not be eaten.[9] 24 And on the fourth year, all its fruits will be holy, blessings for Yahweh. 25 And on the fifth year, you will eat its fruit, to add to yourself its bounty. I am Yahweh your lord. 26 You will not eat over the blood. You will not read fortunes, or be fortune tellers.

27 And you will not circumscribe the sides of your head, and you will not lay waste the sides of your beard. 28 And a cut in your skin you will not put in your flesh, and a tattoo imprint you will not put into you. I am Yawheh. 29 Do not defile your daughter, to make her a whore, so the whole Earth will not be whoring, and the Earth is filled with lewdness.

30 You will keep my sabbath, and fear my temple. I am Yahweh.[10] 31 Do not turn to the spirits and the spirit mediums, and do not ask to defile of them. I am Yahweh your God. 32 From the wild-haired you will rise, and you will admire the face of the elders. And you will fear your God. I am Yahweh.•

33 And if a stranger will stay in your land, you will not afflict him. 34 As one of your citizens will the stranger staying with you be to you, and you loved him as yourself. Because you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.

35 You will not do wrong in judgement and in measure, in weights and in rule-marking. 36 Fair scales, fair rock-weights, fair eipha, and fair hin, will be for you. I am Yahweh your god, who took you out from the land of Egypt. 37 And you kept all my laws and all my judgements and you did them. I am Yahweh.¶

Chapter 20[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 And to the sons of Israel, say:

Each man from the sons of Israel and from the stranger who will give of his seed to Molech, will be killed dead. The people of the land will stone him with stones. 3 And I will put my face at that man, and I will cut him off from among his people. Because he gave of his seed to Molech, to defile my temple, and to defile the name of my holiness.

4 And if turn they will turn their eyes, the people of the land, away from this man, who has given his seed to Molech, so that they will not put him to death. 5 And I will put my face myself at this man, and at his family. And I will cut him off and all those who whore after him, to whore after Molech from within their people.

6 And the soul which will turn to the spirits and the mediums to whore after them, and I will give my face in that soul, and I will cut him off from among his people. 7 And you were sanctified, and you were holy, because I am Yahweh your god. 8 And you kept my laws, and you did them. I am Yahweh, your sanctifier.

9 Because any man who will curse his father and his mother, will be killed dead. He cursed his father and his mother, his blood is forfeit.

10 And a man who will commit adultery with the wife of a man, who will commit adultery with the wife of his friend, will be killed dead. The adulterer and the adulteress.

11 And a man who will lay with his father's wife, has uncovered his father's nakeness. They will be killed dead, the two of them. Their blood is forfeit. 12

And a man who will sleep with his daughter in law, they will be killed dead. They have done a repugnant thing, their blood is forfeit.

13 And a man who will lay with a man the way one lays with a woman, they did an abomination. The two of them will be killed dead, their blood is forfeit.

14 And a man who will take a woman and her mother, he is lewd. You will burn him in fire, and them, and there will not be lewdness within you.

15 And a man who will give lay to a beast will be killed dead, and the beast you will kill.

16 And a woman who will bring close any beast to serve her sexually, and you killed the woman, and the beast. They will be killed dead, their blood is forfeit.

17 And a man who will take his sister, his father's daughter or his mother's daughter, and he saw her nakedness and she saw his nakedness, it is shameful, and they were cut off from the eyes of their people. He has revealed his sister's nakedness, he will carry his illdeed.

18 And a man who has slept with an enfeebled woman, and he exposed her nakedness onto her naked center, and she exposed the source of her bloods, and the two of them were cut-off from among the people.

19 And the nakedness of your mother's sister and your father's sister you will not expose. Because he has denuded his near kin, they will carry their illdeed. 20 And a man who will sleep with his uncle's wife, he has uncovered his uncle's nakedness. They will carry their sin. They will die barren. 21 And a man who will take his brother's wife, she is impure as the menstrual, he has uncovered his brother's wife. They will be barren.

22 And you kept all my laws, and all my judgements, and you did them, and the land will not vomit you up, that which I will bring you there, to settle. 23 And you will not go by the law of the nation which I will drive away from before you, because they did all these, and I will annihilate them.

24 And I say to you: you will inherit their land, and I will let you inherit it, a land flowing with milk and honey. I, Yahweh god, who have distinguished you from among the people. 25 And you distinguished between the pure and impure beast, and between the pure and impure bird, and you will not defile your souls in beast and in bird, and in all that will crawl on the Earth, which I have distinguished for you, to defile. 26 And you were for me holy, because I, Yahweh, am holy. And I will distinguish you from among the people, to be for me.

27 And a man or a woman who will have within them a spirit or medium will be killed dead. They will be stoned by stones, their blood is forfeit.

Chapter 21[edit]

1 And Yahweh said to Moses:

Say to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and you said to them:

To a person[11], he will not be impure to his people. 2 Except for his close kin, to his mother and to his father, and to his sons and to his daughter and to his brother 3 and to his virgin sister which is close to him, who did not have a man, to her he will be impure. 4 He will not be impure, a master to his people, to defile himself.

5 They must not shave bald their heads, and the sides of their beard they mist not shave, and in their flesh they must not scratch out scratch-marks. 6 They must be holy to their God, and they must not profane the name of their God, because of the sacrifices[12] of Yahweh the bread to their God, they sacrifice, and they must be holy. 7 A woman who is a whore and defiled they must not take, and a woman divorced from her man they must not take, because he is holy to his God. 8 And his honor, because your God's bread that he is sacrificing. Holy will he be to you, because I Yahweh am sanctifying you as holy.

9 And the daughter of a priest man that begins to whore, she is defiling her father. She will be burned in fire.•

10 And the priest that is greater than his brother, upon whose head the anointing oil will be poured, and he added to his tasks to wear the clothes. His hair will not be mussed, and his clothes will not be frayed. 11 And upon any dead souls he will not come: to his father and to his mother, he will not be defiled. 12 And from the temple he will not leave, and he will not defile the holy place of his God. Because the gift of his God's anointing oil is upon him. I am Yahweh. 13 And he will take a woman who is in her virginity. 14 A widow, and a divorcee, and a defiled whore, of these he will not take: but of a virgin of his people, will he take a wife. 15 And he will not defile his seed in his people, because I Yahweh, bless him.•

16 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

17 Speak to Aaron, saying

A man from your seed, to your generations, who will have a defect, will not approach to sacrifice bread to his God. 18 Because every man who has within him a defect, will not sacrifice. A blind or lame man, or maimed, or stricken, 19 Or a man who will have a broken leg on him, or a broken arm. 20 Or a hunchback, or a dwarf, or a lazy-eyed man, or one with eczema, or ringworm, or whose testicles are crushed.[13] 21 Any man who a defect, of the seed of Aaron the priest, will not come forth to sacrifice to Yahweh's fires. He has a defect, the bread of his God he will not come forward to sacrifice.

22 The bread of his God, from the holy of holies, and from the holies, he will eat. 23 But to the curtain he will not come, and to the altar he will not approach, because he has a defect, and he will not defile my altar, because I, Yahweh, sanctify them.

24 And Moses spoke to Aaron, and his sons, and to all the sons of Israel.¶

Chapter 22[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Speak to Aaron and to his sons, and they will elevate themselves of the holy of the sons of Israel, and they will not defile my name's holiness, which they sanctify to me. I am Yahweh.

3 Say to them: to your generations, any man of your seed who will come near to the holies which the sons of Israel will sanctify to Yahweh, and his defilement is upon him, and this soul will be cut off from my presence, I am Yahweh.

4 Each man of Aaron's seed, and he is leprous or discharging, will not eat in the holy place until he will be purified. And the one who touches in any defiled soul, or a man out of whom will come a semen discharge. 5 Or a man who will touch of any vermin which will defile him, or a man who will be defiled, in all of his defilement. 6 A soul which defilement will touch until the evening, and he will not eat from the holies, but if he will bathe his flesh in water. 7 And the sun comes, and he is purified, and afterwards he will eat from the holies, because it is his bread. 8 And incidentally dead and a predated animals he will not eat, to defile himself in. I am Yahweh. 9 And they will keep my watch, and they will not carry sin upon it, and they will die in it, but they will defile it. I am Yahweh, their sanctifier.

10 And any stranger will not eat of the holy. One settled with the Cohen, and his hired men, will not eat the holy. 11 And a priest who will buy a soul of his money's purchase, he will eat it. And one born of his house, they will eat of his bread. 12 And the daughter of a priest, if she will be for a foreign man, she, in the holy donation will not eat. 13 And the daughter of the priest, if she will be a widow or divorced, and she has no seed, and she returned to her fathers house as in her adolescence, from her father's bread she will eat. And all strangers will not eat it.

14 And a man that will eat the holy by mistake, and he will add its fifth to it, and he gave the holy to the priest. 15 And they will not defile the holy of the sons of Israel, that which they will lift up to Yahweh. 16 And they will carry them, the blame of the wrong, in eating their holy offerings, because I Yahweh, sanctify them.¶

17 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying: 18

Speak to Aaron and to his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, and you said to them:

Each man from the house of Israel, and from the proselyte in Israel, who will sacrifice his sacrifice against all their vows and all their charity, that will raise an offering to Yahweh. 19 Out of desire: a plain male of the cattle, of the sheep, and of the goats.

20 All that has within it a defect, you will not sacrifice, because you will not desire it. 21 And a man who will sacrifice a payment offering to Yahweh, for enacting a vow, or for charity, in cattle or in sheep, plain will it be, for desirability, it will have no defect in it. 22 Blindness or broken-bone or maimed or blemished or scabbed or with ringworm,[14] you will not sacrifice to Yahweh, and fiery you will not give them on the altar, for Yahweh. 23 And an ox and a sheep, mutated and lame,[15] you will make it a charitable offering, and for a vow it will not be wanted. 24 And one [with testacles] crushed, torn, ripped off, and cut off, you will not sacrifice to Yahweh, and in your land, you will not make. 25 And from the hand of a foreign son, you will not offer the bread of your God. From all of these: because their anointment is within them, a defect to them, it will not be desired for you.•

26 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

27 An ox or a sheep or a goat which will be born, and was seven days under its mother, and from the eighth day forward, he will be desired for a fiery sacrifice for Yahweh. 28 And an ox or a sheep, it and its son, you will not slaughter in one day.

29 And if you will raise a thanks-offering to Yahweh, you will do it out of desire. 30 On the day it will be eaten, you will not leave of it til morning. I am Yahweh. 31

And you kept my commandments, and you did them. I am Yahweh. 32 And you will not defile my holiness's name, and I will be sanctified within the sons of Israel. I am Yahweh, your sanctifier. 33 Who takes you out of the land of Egypt, to be for you a God. I am Yahweh.¶

Chapter 23[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them:

Yahweh's event-times, which you will call holy-days, these are they, my events.

3 Six days will you do your crafts, and on the seventh day, sabbath rest, holy-day, all work you will not do. It is a rest-day for Yahweh, in all your settlements.¶

4 These are Yahweh's events, holy-days which you will call them, in their times.

5 On the first month, on the fourteenth of the month, at sunset, it is Pesach(Passover) for Yahweh. 6 And on the fifteenth day of this month, the festival of unleavened bread for Yahweh. Seven days, you will eat unleavened bread. 7 On the first day, a holy event will be held for you. All craft-work you will not do. 8 And you sacrificed firy to Yahweh, seven days. On the seventh day, a holy-event. All craft-work you will not do.¶

9 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

10 Speak to the sons of Israel, and you said to them

As you come to the land which I am giving to you, and you harvest the harvest, bring the first omer of your harvest to the priest. 11 And he will wave the omer before Yahweh, as you desire, on the day after the sabbath, the priest will wave it. 12 And you will make, on the day that you wave the omer, an unblemished year-old sheep sacrifice as a raised-offer, for Yahweh. 13 And his meal offering two tenths of fine flour mixed in oil, firy to Yahweh, a comforting scent, and a drink-offer of wine, a quarter hin. 14 And bread, and roasted grains, and fresh grains you will not eat until the time of this day, until you bring the sacrifice of your God. An eternal statute to your generations in all your settlements.•

15 Count for yourself from the day after sabbath, from the day that you brought the wave-offer omer. These are to be seven complete weeks. 16 Until from the day after the seventh sabbath, you will count fifty days, and you will sacrifice a new meal-offer for Yahweh. 17 From your settlements, you will bring wave-offer bread, twice two tenths, they will be of fine flour, baked risen dough, first fruit for Yahweh. 18 And sacrifice with the bread, seven unblemished sheep, one year old, and one bull and two rams. They will be a raised-offer to Yahweh, and their meal-offer and their sauce will be firy comfort smell for Yahweh.

19 And you make a single he-goat, for sinstuff, and two year-old sheep, for payment-offer. 20 And the priest will wave them over the choice bread as a wave-offer before Yahweh, over the two sheep, they will be holy for Yahweh, for the priest. 21 And declare on this very day, a holy-day will be for you. All craft-work you will not do. An eternal statute in all your settlements, to your generations.

22 And when you harvest the harvest of your land, you will not decimate the edge of the field in your harvesting. And the falloff from your harvesting, you will not recapture. You will leave them for the poor and the stranger. I am Yahweh, your God.¶

23 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

24 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: On the seventh month, on the first of the month, you will have a rest-day, a horn-blasted memorial of a holy-day. 25 All craft-work you will not do, and sacrifice firy to Yahweh.•

26 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

27 One in the tenth of this seventh month, it is the day of atonement(yom hakippurim), it will be a holy-day for you, and you must afflict your souls, and sacrifice firy to Yahweh. 28 And all work you will not do, on this very day, because it is the day of atonement, to atone for you before Yahweh, your God. 29 Because any soul which will not be afflicted on this very day, and it will be cut-off from its people. 30 And any soul which will do any craft on this very day, and I will lose this soul from among its people. 31 All craft you will not do, an eternal statute to your generations, in all your settlements. 32 A sabbath rest it is for you, and you must afflict your souls, on the ninth of the month, in the evening, from evening to evening, you will sit in your sabbath-rest.¶

33 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

34 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying:

On the fifteenth day of this seventh month, it is the holiday of succoth(huts) seven days, for Yahweh. 35 On the first day, a holy-day, all craft-work you will not do. 36 Seven days, you will sacrifice firy to Yahweh. On the seventh day you will have a holy-day, and you will sacrifice firy to Yahweh. It is a work-strike, all craft work you will not do.

37 These are Yahweh's events, which you will call holy-days: to sacrifice firy to Yahweh, a raised-offer and a meal-offer, sacrifice and drinks, each thing on its day. 38 Apart from Yahweh's sabbaths, and apart from your gifts, and apart from all your vows, and apart from all your charity, which you will give to Yahweh.

39 But on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you gather the bounty of the Earth, you will celebrate Yahweh's holiday, seven days. On the first day, a work-rest, and on the eighth day, a work-rest. 40 And you took for yourself on the first day, fruit of prime trees, palm fronts, and thick tree branches, and creek-willows, and you put them before Yahweh your God, seven days. 41 And you celebrated this festival to holiday, seven days of the year. An eternal statute to all your generations, on the seventh month you will celebrate it. 42 You will sit in the huts seven days. Every citizen in Israel will sit in the huts. 43 So that your generations will know that in huts I settled the sons of Israel, when I took them out of the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh, your God.

44 And Moses told Yahweh's events to the sons of Israel.¶

Chapter 24[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Command the sons of Israel, and they will take to you pure whipped olive oil, for the light, to raise an eternal flame. 3 Outside of the curtain of the testimony in the tent of events, Aaron will arrange it from evening until morning before Yahweh, always, an eternal statute, to your generations. 4 Upon the pure menorah he will arrange the flames, before Yahweh, always.¶

5 And you took fine flour, and you baked it, twelve loafs, two tenths [eipha] will be in each loaf. 6 And you put them in two rows, six to a row, on the pure table, before Yahweh. 7 And you put on the row, pure frankincense, and it was for the bread to be a memorial, fiery for Yahweh. 8 And on the sabbath day, on the sabbath day, they will always arrange before Yahweh, from the sons of Israel, an eternal covenant. 9 And it was for Aaron and his sons, and they will eat in a holy place, because he is holy of holies for me from the men of Yahweh, an eternal statute.•

10 And out came the son of an Israelite woman, and he is the son of an Egyptian man within the sons of Israel. And they argued the son of the Israelite and an Israelite man. 11 And the Son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the name, and he cursed. And the brought him to Moses. And the name of his mother is Shlomith daughter of Divri, of the tribe of Dan. 12 And they held him down under guard, so that he would interpret for them, by Yahweh's mouth.¶

13 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying;

14 Take the cursing one outside the camp, and all that hear will rest their hands on his head, and the entire congregation will stone him.

15 And to the sons of Israel speeak, saying:

Each man who will curse his god, and he carried his sin. 16 And the blasphemer of Yahweh's name will be killed dead. Stone the whole congregation will stone him. Stranger, citizen, when he blasphemes the name, he will be put to death.

17 And a man who will strike taking a man's soul, will be killed dead.

18 And the one who strikes taking a beast's soul, will pay, a soul for a soul.

19 And a man who will maim his friend, as he has done, thus will be done to him. 20 A broken-bone for a broken-bone, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. As he has maimed the man, so he will be given.

21 And the one that strikes a beast will pay, and the one that strikes a man will be killed 22 One judgement will you have, the stranger will be as the citizen, because I am Yahweh, your God.

23 And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, and they took out the curser to outside the camp, and they stoned him with stones. And the sons of Israle did as Yahweh commanded of Moses.¶

Chapter 25[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying:

2 Speak to the sons of Israel and you said to them:

When you come to the land which I am giving to you, and you rested the Earth a rest for Yahweh. 3 Six years, you will seed your field, and six years, you will prune your vineyards, and you gathered its bounty. 4 And on the seventh year, it will be a rest-sabbath for the Earth, a rest for Yahweh. You will not seed your field, and you will not prune your vineyards. 5 And the wild-growth of your harvest you will not reap, and the grapes of your wild-vine you will not gather. It will be a sabbatical year for the earth. 6 And the sabbath of the earth is for you, to eat. For you and for your slave and for your female slave, and for your hired hand, and for the settlers that stay with you. 7 And for your beasts, and for the animal which is in your land, all its bounty will be, for eating.•

8 And you counted for yourself seven years--- seven years seven times. And the days of the seven sabbatical years were for you forty nine years. 9 And you brought a warning shofar(ram's horn) on the seventh month, on the tenth of the month, on the day of atonement, you will pass a shofar in all your land. 10 And you will bless the fiftieth year, and you called freedom in the land, for all its inhabitants. It is a Jubilee, it will be so for you. And you returned each man to his holdings, and each man to his family return. 11 It is a Jubilee, year fifty, it will be for you. You will not seed, you will not harvest its wild-growth, and you will not reap its wild-growth grapes. 12 Because it is a Jubilee. It will be holy for you. From the field, you will eat its bounty.

13 In this Jubilee year, you will return each man to his holding. 14 And if you will sell a good to your compatriot, or you will buy from the hand of your compatriot, do not wrong one another. 15 At a certain number of years after the Jubilee you will buy from your compatriot, according to the number of years of harvesting, he will sell to you. 16 And if the years are many, his price will increase, and if the years are few, his price will decrease, because he is selling you the number of yields.

17 And you will not do wrong, man to his compatriot, and you feared your God, because I am Yahweh your god. 18 And you followed my laws and kept my judgements and you did them, and you settled on the land safely. 19 And the land gave its fruit, and you ate to satiety, and you settled safely upon it.

20 And if you said, "What will we eat in the seventh year? For we will not seed, and we will not gather our bounty." 21 And I have commanded my blessing to you, on the sixth year, and the harvest will be made as for three years. 22 And you seeded the eighth year, and you ate from the old yield, until the ninth year, until its yield will come, you will eat the old. 23 And the land will not be sold in perpetuity, because the land is for me. Because you are strangers and settlers with me. 24 And in all the land of your possessions, you will grant a release to the land.•

25 If your brother will dwindle, and he sold of his holdings, and his redeemer comes, who is close to him, and he redeemed that sold by his brother. 26 And a man who would not have a redeemer, and his means allow, and he found for his redemption. 27 And he calculated the years of his selling, and he returned the remainder to the man who sold to him, and he returned to his holding. 28 And if his means do not allow him to return it, and the sale will remain in the hand of the buyer, until the Jubilee year. And he will leave on the Jubilee, and return to his holdings.•

29 And a man who will sell a house in a walled city, and he may redeem it until the end of a year of its sale. During these days he will be allowed to redeem it. 30 And if he will not redeem it, until the ordinary year is finished, and the house in the walled city will be for its buyer in perpetuity, to his generations. It will not come out on the Jubilee.

31 And houses with courtyards which are not surrounded by a wall, on the fields of the Earth, will count. They will have a redemption, and will come out on the Jubilee.

32 And the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities they hold, they will be redeemed eternally for the Levites. 33 And whoever will redeem from the Levites, and he was out of the house-sale and the city of his holding on the Jubilee. Because the houses of the Levite's cities it is their holdings, among the sons of Israel. 34 And a field lot in their cities will not be sold, because it is a permanent holding, for them.•

35 And if your brother will dwindle, and you supported him, and you kept him as a visitor and settler living with you. 36 Do not take interest or fee from him, and you feared your God, and your brother will live with you. 37 Your money you will not give to him with interest, and your food you will not give at a fee. 38 I am Yahweh your God, who has taken you out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, to be, for you, a God.•

39 And if your brother will dwindle with you, and he were sold to you, you will not work him in the work of the slave. 40 As a hired-man, as a settler, will he be with you. Until the Jubilee year, he will work with you. 41 And he left from within you, him and his sons with him, and he returned to his family. And to his father's holdings, he will return. 42 Because they are my slaves. For I have taken them out of the land of Egypt, they will not be sold as slaves are sold. 43 You will not bear down on him to break his back, and you feared your god.

44 And your slave-men and your slave-woman which will be to you, from the nations which are around you, from them you will buy slave-men and slave-woman. 45 And also from the sons of the settlers that live among you, from them you will buy, and from their families which are among you, which have given birth in your land, and they were for you, a holding. 46 And you will bequeath them to your sons after you, as an inherited holding, forever you will enslave them. And of your brothers, the sons of Israel, man of his brother, you will not bear down on him to break his back.•

47 And if the means of a stranger and settler among you will reach, and your brother is sold to him, and he was sold to a stranger dwelling within you, or to the offspring of a strange family. 48 After he was sold, he will be redeemed. One of his brothers will redeem him. 49 Either his uncle or his cousin, will free him, or the rest of his flesh and blood from his family will free him, or he will acquire the means, and he will redeem himself.

50 And he calculated, along with his livestock, from the year that they sold him until the Jubilee year. And the money from selling him, as the number of years, as the time of a hired-man, should he be with him. 51 If the years are many, according to them he will return his freedom from the money he was sold. 52 And if a few years remain until the Jubilee, and he calculated for himself, as his years, he will return for his freedem. 53 As if a hired man, year by year, would be with him. We will not bear down on him to break his back, before your eyes. 54 And if he will not be redeemed in these, and he will leave in the Jubilee year, he and his sons with him.

55 Because the sons of Israel are slaves to me. They are my slaves, which I have taken out of the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh, your god.

Chapter 26[edit]

1 You will not make idols for yourselves, and a statue and monument you will not erect for yourselves. And you will not place a engraved stone in your land to bow down to, because I am Yahweh, your god. 2 My sabbath you will keep, and my temple you will fear. I am Yahweh.¶

3 If you will walk in my laws, and my commandments you will keep, and you made them. 4 And at its time I gave to you the rain, and the land will give its bounty, and the tree of the field will give its fruit. 5 And your threshing will last until the vintage, and the vintage will last until planting, and you will eat your bread to satiety, and you will settle your land in safety. 6 And I will give peace in the land, and you lay down and there is no terror. And I will remove the prey animal from the land, and over your land a sword will not pass.

7 And you chased your enemies, and they will fall before you, to the sword. 8 And they pursued you five hundred, and one hundred of you a hundred-thousand will pursue, and your enemies fell before you, to the sword. 9 And I turned to you, and I made you fertile, and I made you multiply, and I raised up my covenant with you.

10 And you shall eat the old, and very old storage, old grain before the new that comes out. 11 And I will give my dwelling among you, and my soul will not be disgusted with you. 12 And I walked within you, and I was for you a god, and you will be for me a people.

13 I am Yahweh, your god. It was I who took you out from the land of Egypt, from being slaves to them. And I will break the yoke upon you, and I will make you walk head up.¶

14 And if you will not listen to me, and you will not do all these commandments.

15 And if you will tire of my judgements, and if your soul will be disgusted with my commandments, so that you will not do all my commandments, to break my covenant. 16 I will even do this to you. And I commanded upon you panic, the consumption, and the fever, eye wrecking, and emptiness of the soul, and you will seed your seed in vain, and your enemies will eat them up. 17 And I put my face at you, and you will be struck before your enemies, and your detesters will oversee you, and you will flee when none pursue.

18 And even up to this, you will not listen to me, and I will continue to blight you, seven times over for your sins. 19 And I will break your power of might, and I will give your skies as iron, and your land as copper. 20 And your strength will be for naught, and your land will not yield her harvest, and the tree of the land will not give its fruit. 21

And if you will go astray with me, and you will not deign to listen to me, and I will strike upon you, seven times your sins. 22 And I will send at you the animal of the field, and it will rob you of children. And it will cut down your livestock, and it will reduce your number, and your ways exhausted.

23 And if with these, you will not supplicate to me, but you walked against me. 24 And I would even go against you. And I will strike you, I too, seven times over your sins. 25 And I will bring the sword upon you, which avenges the vengeance of a covenant, and you will gather to your cities. And I will send pox within you, and you were given to the hand of an enemy. 26 When I break off with you, a staff of bread, and ten women baked your bread in one oven, and returned your weight of bread, and you ate, and you will not be satisfied.•

27 And if of this, you will not listen, and you walked against me. 28 And I would go against you, angrily. And even I will cut you off, sevenfold over your sins. 29 And you will eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters, you will eat. 30 And I destroyed your stages, and I will cut down your sun-poles, and I will give your carcasses on the carcasses of your idols, and my soul will be disgusted with you. 31 And I made your cities wastelands, and I will destroy your temple, and I will not smell the scent of your comforting. 32 And I will make the land desolate, and your enemies settled upon it will be desolate. 33 And you, I will scatter among the nations, and I will draw sword after you, and your land will be desolate, and your cities will be wastelands.

34 Then the land will want its sabbaths, all the days of the desolation, and you are in the land of your enemies, then the land will be rested, and repay her sabbaticals. 35 All the days of the desolation, it will be rested, as it was not rested in your sabbaticals, when you settled upon her.

36 And the ones that remain of you, and I will bring indecision into their hearts in the land of their enemies, and they would run from the sound of a windblown leaf. And they will flee as if from a sword, and they will fall, and there is no pursuer. 37 And they will stumble, a man to his brother, as if from a sword, and there is no pursuer. And you will no endurance before your enemies. 38 And you will be lost among the people, and the land of your enemies will decimate you.

39 And the ones remaining of you will rue their wrongs, in the lands of your enemies, and along with their fathers wrongs, they will rue this. 40 And they will admit their wrongs, and the wrongs of their fathers, in their plots which they schemed against me, and even that they walked against me.

41 Even I will walk against them. And I will bring them to the land of their enemies. Maybe then they will submit their foreskin heart, and then they will get-due of their illdeed. 42 And I remembered my covenant with Jacob, and even my covenant with Isaac, and even my covenant with Abraham. I will remember, and the land will remember.

43 And of them the land will be neglected, and shall run through her sabbaticals in her separation from them, and they will get-due of their illdeed. They will answer to each one, and of my sentences they were fed up, and thier soul was disgusted by my laws. 44 And even through this, being in the land of their enemies, I did not reject them, and I did not become disgusted with them to cut them down, to break my covenant with them. Because I am Yahweh, their god. 45 And I reminded them of the first covenant, with which I took them out of the land of Egypt, to the eyes of the nations, to be a god for them. I, Yahweh.

46 These are the laws and the laws and the judgements and the teachings which Yahweh gave, between him and the sons of Israel, on mount Sinai, in Moses's hands.

Chapter 27[edit]

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and you said to them:

A man who will tend a vow as you value persons, to Yahweh. 3 And your value will be for the male, from twenty years old until sixty years old, and your value was fifty silver shekels, by the holy standard shekel. 4 And if she is a female, and her value is thirty shekel. 5 And if from the age of five years until the age of twenty years, and your valuation of the male is twenty shekels, and of the female, ten shekels. 6 And if from a month old up to five years old, and your valuation of the male will be five shekels of silver, and the female you will value at three shekels of silver. 7 And if from sixty years old and up, if a male, and your valuation is fifteen shekels, and for a female, ten shekels. 8 And if he does not amount to your valuation, and they will stand him up before the priest, and the priest will evaluate him. As the means of the vow tender will allow, so the priest will value him.•

9 And if a beast, which will be sacrificed as an offering for Yahweh, all that will give of it to Yahweh will be blessed. 11 He will not exchange it, he will not trade it good for bad or bad for good. And if he will trade it beast for beast, then both it and its counterpart will be holy. 12 And if any impure beast which one will not sacrifice of it to Yahweh, and stood the beast on the stage before the priest. 13 And the priest will assess it, for good and for bad, as the assessment of the priest, thus it will be. 14 And if free he will be liberated, and he will add a fifth over your estimate of worth.

15 And a man who will consecrate his house holy for Yahweh, and the priest will evaluate it, for good and for bad. As the priest values it, thus it will stand. 16 And if the consecrator will redeem his house, and he will add a fifth of silver as your estimation of its worth, and it will be for him. 17 And if from the field of his holding, a man will consecrate to Yahweh, and your valuation will be as his seed. A seeding of a chomer of barley at fifty shekels of silver. 18 If he will consecrate his field after the jubilee, and the priest will calculate the money for him based on the years left until the year of jubilee, and it will reduce your valuation.

19 And if redeem the consecrator of the field will redeem it, and he will add a fifth of silver to your estimate, and it will be to him. 20 And if he will not redeem the field, and if he sold the field to another man, he will not yet be redeemed. 21 And the field was, when he came out at Jubilee, holy to Yahweh, as the forbidden field. The priest will have its title.

22 And if his pasture, which is not of his title, he will consecrate to God. 23 And the priest will calculate of him the worth of value until the Jubilee year, and he gave your estimate on that day. It is holy for Yahweh. 24 On the Jubilee year, the field will return, to that who he bought it from, to him who has the title of the land.

25 And all your estimations will be by the holy standard shekel, twenty Gerah will the shekel be.

26 But a first-born which will be born for Yahweh, of the beasts, no man will consecrate. Whether bull or sheep, it is for Yahweh. 27 And if of the impure beast, then he will redeem it according to your valuation, and he will add a fifth to it. And if it is not redeemed, and it will be sold at your valuation.

28 But anything sacred which a man will consecrate to Yahweh from all that he has, from man and from beast, and from the field of his title, he will not sell and he will not redeem. All things sacred are holy of holies for Yahweh. 29 None consecrated, who is consecrated of men, will be set free. He will be killed dead.[16]

30 And all the riches of the land, from the seed of the Earth, from the fruit trees, it is for Yahweh. It is holy for Yahweh. 31 And if redeem a man will redeem from his tithe, he will add a fifth to it. 32 And all the tithe of the cattle and sheep, all that will pass under the staff, the tenth will be holy for Yahweh. 33 He will not distinguish between good and bad, and he will not trade it. If trade he trades it, and it and its counterpart will be holy, he will not be redeemed.

34 These are the commandments which Yahweh commanded Moses of the sons of Israel on mount Sinai.§

Comments[edit]

  1. The second part of this verse can be read active without changing the consonants or the meaning, so it reads "you will not eat it". The Masoretic reading is passive, and there is no reason to doubt it.
  2. This verse makes it clear exactly what the Hebrew for a "burnt offering" is (meaning an offering entirely consumed by fire, not eaten by the people or by the priests)--- it's כָּלִיל. An Olah then is any eaten offering, as are the other offerings, except parts of sinstuff offering which is taken outside the camp and burnt, and internal fatty tissues which are placed on the fire but are not eaten, presumably feeding the fire. This is confused in other translations, perhaps because the predominantly culinary aspect of the sacrificial altar is not emphasized.
  3. The second part of the sentence might makes more sense here as a passive construction, so that it reads "the meat which is pure will be eaten as meat". The word for "flesh" and "meat" are identical in Hebrew, so in the passive interpretation it is talking about meat, not people. The consonants of the two interpretations are the same, but the traditional pronunciation is the active form given in the text.
  4. The Urim and Thummim are some sort of divination stones which are drawn from a hidden place, probably to get the answer to some yes/no question.
  5. In this verse, considering the context, "black hair" presumably is a misprint for "yellow hair".
  6. The "scale" is a scabby rash under the hair. These kinds of diseases were common before modern studies of the scalp(a short poem by a famous author curses a unreliable scribe with the scale)
  7. "because the leprosy is at the extremities of the cloth, or all through." is from the Vulgate, the Hebrew has an out of place sentence here that reads "It is a Pchetheth, in his bald-spot or in his receding forehead."
  8. (18:6)reveal their nakedness - a euphemism for having sex.
  9. This verse has the pungent metaphor עֲרַלְתֶּם עָרְלָתוֹ, circumcise its(the tree's) foreskin, which was hard for me to connect to the intended act--- to throw away the fruit.
  10. The word here is "temple" מִקְדָּשִׁי, not tent-of-events (tabernacle). This is anachronistic, but so is every reference to farming too.
  11. (21:1) person - Hebrew נפש. In later Hebrew this word refers to a soul; however, in the Torah, it clearly refers to a person - and in this context, a dead one.
  12. (21:6) sacrifices - literally "fires".
  13. The word יַלֶּפֶת as well as גָרָב are lost, but the injunction on "Yalepheth" is repeated for animals in the next chapter. I translated them as "eczema" and "ringworme" which is as good a guess as any, ringworm being a disease shared by humans and animals. The testicle stuff is by parallel with the next chapter description of presumably castrated animals.
  14. So יַלֶּפֶת is something shared by humans and animals, and the first thing I found was "ringworm", although it is unlikely that it is that specific a condition.
  15. The word שָׂרוּעַ וְקָלוּט are given here as "mutated and lame", although I have no idea what defects these really are.
  16. I couldn't understand this at first, because it's horror was out of the range of my conception--- individuals who end up "consecrated" to the priesthood are to be killed.
