Texas, My Texas

Heads up, kiddos!

The story says that in 2020 if Democrats win some state rep seats that were very close in 2018, we can win the Texas House and be in charge of redistricting — the only thing that has kept Republicans in control in Texas.

Here’s the deal.

Two of those seats are in my county.  Y’all remember that I came to you and flat begged for money two years ago.  Y’all paid for ballot by mail, voter registration notices for Democrats who had moved into the county from other counties but not changed their registration, and a whole mess of other grassroots programs that did not require consultants.  We had not won a county wide race in 25 years.  We won them all in 2018.  Every race where we fielded a Democrat, we won.

So, I’m asking you to start a little piggy bank.  Any money you give my PAC goes straight to the program with no consultants or overhead. Everybody here is volunteers but we know what we are doing.

Glen and I did some experimental programs that we had faith in and they worked like a fifty dollar hammer on a greased nail.  We have a couple more we want to try.  I do not want to give Republicans any of our ideas. Hell, they still have not figured out how we registered 5,082 Democrats in my mid sized county in 60 days.  So, I want to have an email program that keeps our donors up to date without letting Republicans know what we’re doing.

So, start saving because I will hit you up after the first of the year.

Just wanted you to know.

Be social and share!

Hit me up now Only got so many pennies each month so the more months, the more pennies I can give

  2. You know you can count on me. I believe in you and Glen.

  3. Will be ready when you are.

I’m in – I wonder how many folks are donating this way, or to Blue Smerica, rather than to the DNC

  5. Not much faith in the DNC, DCCC, or DSCC, but glad I’ve got some spare change for folks fighting the good fight. You and Glen are high on that list. (Probably at the top of the list, but I don’t want you to get a swelled head.) When Texas finally flips, it will hit the GOP like two safes and a piano.

  6. Similar list of thuglicans who won by narrow margins for US House?
Such as Rep. Carter who beat M.J. by only 3% and votes for demented donnie 96.8% (from 538) of the time
Wonder how much of that 3% came from funds raised for him by a sitting nominal D congressman or from the “bi-partisan” credit that support gave to this rabid right wing thuglican.
Of course he is, like demented donnie’s praise for his friends at Charlottesville, a “fine person”.
Problem with gerrymandering is sometimes they cut the margin a bit close and a minor change (in this case less than 2%) can flip a district.
    Flush them all.

Being up here in Virginia, I don’t hear much about Texas politicians, with a few exceptions: Strickland and Tinderholt should have long ago been labeled as toxic substances. I am just aghast about some our representation here, mostly in the southern county which is all gun and Jesus.

  8. I’m in. I’ll be here with PayPal in January, or sooner, whenever you make the call.

One of my fondest dreams is a blue Texas.

    Count on us.

  10. WA Skeptic says:

    Count on me!

Now to combat the knee-jerk jerques here in OR who are trying to recall our great governor.

    11
  11. I’m in.

    12
  12. You can count me in.

AZ is red, but I’m supporting Mark Kelly here. I think TX has more chance of turning blue than AZ.

    13
  13. Jill Ann says:

Count me in as well. I live near you, and would be happy to volunteer my time, too, if needed. I’m a reasonably capable person!

    14
  14. Austinhatlady says:

Add my name to the list. Want to do my part.

  15. Great idea, and I’m all for it. However, if we don’t take the Senate, I’m not sure how much extra good (aside from deep sixing R legislation) it will do, even with a D in the Oval Office.

    16
  16. Count me in, too.
Things are so terrible now that I don’t want to wait, however. I’ve given to RAICES, ACLU and others. What else can I do?

    17
  17. Patricia Cantu says:

I donated last year and will happily do so again. It’s money well spent. Just let us know when.

    18
  18. Larry from Colorado says:

Even though I don’t live in Texas, I’ll give a little. (less than 3 figures.)

    19
  19. Panchosanza says:

I am so deflated to see how quickly and thoroughly Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the old-guard centrist Democrats have squandered the energy from the left that was rising to drown Trump. Once again, the spineless, weak, go-with-the-flow, centrists suck all the energy and motivation out of the grassroots in the name of their own re-election and financial stability, but this time the stakes are so much more dire.

  20. Rubymay says:

    Ready when you are, McDuff.

    21
  21. Chloe Bear says:

Say the word and I will send a check. Blue Texas is akin to a blue heaven on earth.

    22
  22. I’m in.

    23
  23. @ Panchosanza
Speak for yourself. Things are way too dire for giving up.
And how do you know Pelosi’s motivations? Did she send you an email? And just exactly who do you mean when you talk about all these terrible centrists?

    24
  24. Still here, still have a few bucks for good causes. Thanks for what you do. Spread the effective approaches to other D’s.
