Aston Villa’s new owners must get rid of Steve Bruce after it was revealed just how much it will cost them.

As reported by trusted Twitter source Alan Nixon, it will set Villa back a fee in the region of £2million if they wanted to sack Bruce.

As reported by the Birmingham Mail, the new owners are considering the appointment of Arsenal legend Theirry Henry as the new manager at Villa Park.

Whilst Henry might an unwise appointment at this point, considering his inexperience in club management, it would absolutely be the right decision to sack Steve Bruce, especially for the reported £2million fee.

Bruce was given possibly the most expensive Championship squad ever assembled, with wages that were far above any other team in the division and he failed to get them promoted, two years in a row.

When he was appointed as Villans manager in the 2016/17, the club chose to splash the cash in both the summer and winter transfer windows, signing the likes of Ross McCormack, Jonathan Kodjia, Scott Hogan, James Chester , Aaron Tshibola and many more.

He had players at his disposal that no other second-tier manager could have in their wildest dreams, and he still managed in failing to get them promotion back to the Premier League.

Last season, he brought in proven top-level players including John Terry, Glenn Whelan, Ahmed Elmohamady and Robert Snodgrass. He even had the best goalkeeper at that level in Sam Johnstone and highly-rated Jack Grealish in the form of his life.

Not only did Bruce fail to get automatic promotion, he lost in the play-off final to Fulham, when they should have been easily in the top two spots in the division. Instead, Wolves and Cardiff City were promoted.

It is easy to sympathise with Bruce over the last two years, considering the financial mess the club is in, but if the board have failed off the pitch, he has failed just as much on it.
