These worked great. Install them correctly and they likely won't leak. You can always dab on a little silicone to make sure. Eventually, they do break, always the little tether, so I like to keep extras on hand as once it breaks the cap is always always always lost and never to be found again. I tend to keep spares of lots of things around the house. It's more convenient to have spares handy than to have to run to the store to pick them up or order them and wait. You have extra string for your yard trimmer don't you? I even keep extra elements for my electric water heater. Those things seem to always fail when it's thirty degrees outside and I really don't want to have to run out to the store in the cold. It's bad enough to have to replace one in the cold.
So, even if you don't need them now - you will. Get them before you need them. If you only need one, go ahead and get the bundle so you have spares.
Now putting them in a gas can you've had a while is a bit of a pain because when you drill the hole you WILL get plastic bits in the gas can and you don't want to dump them in your mower, car, snowblower... I have an air compressor that I used to blow the bits out but if there's still some leftover fuel in there (and there always was no matter how hard I tried) it can get a little messy (don't be looking in the can when you blast the air....) - If the can was dry you could probably shake the bits out.
The instructions say "You will have to drill a 31/64" (one size below 1/2") hole into the can, then push the vent into the hole" and that is accurate but they are hard to push in - a bit of Vaseline helped a lot. Trying to tap them in with a hammer resulted in breaking the vent cap. These even help smooth out fuel delivery from today's new newfangled (new is NOT improved) safety spout cans!!
