About that Wrath o' th' Queen
I'm certainly not a native English speaker. You can keep my mistakes, they are free handouts.
So, it's been 5 (or even 6?) months now and the "Pve Event ploxx" cries still haven't been silenced. Let me - an active day one player who grinded the Queen's Wrath up to Rank 3 - enlighten you a little bit about the first and so far only PvE event. First of: Those crybabies are in - my opinion - either over-nostalgic, couldn't attend it (as they haven't hit 20 or bought Destiny yet) or basically are Christmas Noobs. Thus they missed this hell of a grind and only experienced Iron Banners so far. How could one participate in this event? Well, apart from the regular six PvE and PvP bounties Xander carries, he had six more for one week. Six bounties with wich you were able to gain some Queen's Rep. QW was a PvE event, right? Right. But that doesn't mean that you had to do PvE tasks to participate. In fact, many bounties - like deal 15 (or was it 10?) headshots with a sniper rifle in the Crucible had to be done in PvP. When turning those bounties in, you obtained some kind of admission to start a Queen's mission. One for each, which makes up to 6 per day and thus 42 in total. What were those missions about? You were send out into a closed area, with the task to bring an end to one of the Queen's enemies. In other words: you had to play one out of several story missions and kill the mission's boss, like: - Riksis, Devil Archon (easy and fast, but very rare to me) - Draksis, Winter Kell - Zydron, Gate Lord (if I remember correctly) - Primus Sha'aull - Eschaton/Imminent/Primeval Mind (god, how I hated this one) - some others which I forgot Those lvl 26 epic missions each had a random modifier plus - alas, something good - a random burn. I guess you can imagine how fun it is to play Draksis with arc burn and lightswitch five times in a row. Yes, you were able to reroll the mission as your admission only was redeemed after dealing the final blow, this didn't make it any more fun, tho. I just can't express the frustration you feel when seeing your ship is heading to mars like there's no tomorrow. What were the rewards? One guaranteed warm handshake - without any rep gain. Most certainly for 3 shards/energies. (I guess the chance was 100%, I may be completely wrong, though, and there weren't any mats at all) Often times you got a Queen's chest or glove, painted in fancy purple. Did I already mention that the gear only went up to 27 Light? (That's lvl 29, epic gearz!) Maybe you were rewarded a Supremacy (I got 4, so the chance likely was around 10%), the Queen's Sniper Rifle. NO, it was not the best/strongest rifle in Destiny. In fact, the Icebreaker has one or two pixels more impact. It was the strongest legendary one, yes, but this place now belongs to Efrideet's and Black Hammer. Did I already mention that you even could get shards and energies when breaking down gear? Well ... up to the second day or so. Then they were hotfix'd out. This was the point at which most players quit the event. With enough luck (this automatically exludes me) you even got the privilegue to call yourself a special snowflake with the purple Chasing Infinity ship. I never even saw one drop, even when playing in groups. Out of 42 to possible missions I skipped one or two (it simply was unnerving), so let's say I finished around 35. Add the ones I played in a group and you get around 50 rolls. Not one ship, this results in a drop chance of less than 2%. Sounds rewarding, right? Right?! Apart from that, there also was Petra Venj - what Lord Salami is to the IB, Venj was to the QW. At rank 1, you were granted access to the first purple shader (Rosegold). At rank 2, you were able to buy the Queen's class item. For the rank 3 snowflakes like me, there was another shader (Prism Dancer) and rare weapons with 267 attack. That's 10.3% stronger than the rare ones from playing strike playlists! That's it. A little insight into Destiny's one and only PvE event from the perspective of a non-nostalgic, yet special and unique, snowflake. Cheers. TL;DR: Don't bring back Queen's Wrath. Just don't. Stick with Iron Banner. EDIT: Apparently, the missions were lvl 24 and the event lasted 2 weeks (which drops the chance of getting Chasing Infinity down to 1%). Also, you could get a helmet (instead of gloves).
