If free food, glitzy offices and other enviable perks weren’t enough, engineers and product managers just starting out in the tech world also rope in a hefty salary. While the national salary average is $48,098.63, first-year Silicon Valley employees can make over $105,000. This also includes a $13,000 stock bonus and a nearly $26,000 cash bonus.

The top three paying tech companies are Facebook ($239,000), Snap Inc. ($197,000), and Twitter ($157,000). While many of us slave away at unpaid internships, tech tutelage can surpass $6,000 a month. So if you can deal with working 12-14 hours a day to weed through lines of code, maybe a lucrative career switch is in your future.
