Responsibilities

Since July 2014 this role is covered by the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Climate Change.

The Minister of State for Climate Change supports the Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change on issues and policies related to climate change. These include:

  • Green Deal
  • energy efficiency and energy demand reduction
  • promoting the interests of energy consumers
  • managing fuel poverty
  • national and international climate change
  • carbon budgets
  • Renewable Heat Incentive
  • feed-in tariffs
  • planning reform and consents
  • Green Investment Bank
  • green jobs and skills
  • climate science
