He's done it again! Ronnie O’Sullivan hits SECOND perfect break in Lincoln

'The Rocket' indicated he would be taking part in this year's World Championships in Sheffield

Ronnie O’Sullivan hit another magical maximum 147 break, as he once again thrilled snooker fans with two superb exhibitions at the Lincoln Drill Hall last weekend.

It was the second time in less than a year that O’Sullivan – known as The Rocket – had made a maximum in the city, following his amazing show at Bishop Grosseteste last May.

Over the weekend, O’Sullivan played a number of players from across the county and his moment of snooker perfection this time came on the Saturday evening against the event’s co-organiser Nigel Coton.

After hitting four half-centuries in the first mini-session, the five-time world champion raised the roof in the first frame after the interval, by taking the 15 reds with blacks before coolly clearing the colours to complete the maximum.

No challenger got close to O’Sullivan all weekend and besides the maximum he also made a further five century breaks over the two nights – including a run of 140.

BBC commentator and 1979 UK Champion John Virgo provided the opening entertainment with his trick shots and was also MC for the weekend, while former world snooker referee Michaela Tabb took charge of proceedings on the table.

On both evenings, Tabb was ably assisted by 15-year-old James Goulding from Lincoln who took care of the scoreboard and recording of the breaks.

The Sunday evening show concluded with a question and answer session with O’Sullivan, during which – contrary to some reports – he confirmed that he will be taking part in this year’s world championships at Sheffield in April.
