Many Raptors Fans Are Disappointed By Jeremy Lin’s Rough First Month In Toronto

Raptors newcomer Jeremy Lin seems to be struggling to adjust to his new surroundings. Jeremy Lin was traded to the Toronto Raptors back in February following a buyout with the Hawks on the hope that he would serve as a worthy replacement for recently swapped Delon Wright.

Lin has so far failed to establish himself as a leading scorer. In the 11 games he has played since joining Toronto, the former Hawk has only managed to hit double figures three times. Lin has averaged 8 points or less in seven of those games, giving him a total of 16-for-54 shooting from the field.

Raptors fans, never the type to shy away from criticism, have shown Lin no mercy for his slow and steady approach to the team:

Jeremy Lin has passed no one on the Raptors’ all-time scoring list this afternoon. You know. Because he hasn’t scored.

VanVleet hits his 3d 3 pt shot. Has 12 pts. Goodbye Jeremy Lin. VV has played 23 mins. Lin 10, none in 2d half. It ain't over til it's over, but right now the Lin experiment in Toronto looks like a failure. Still, 11 games til playoffs ....

Lin obviously is dealing with a learning curve, and it wouldn’t be right to compare him to his “Linsanity” glory days when he has only been playing with Toronto for a month.

However, as it stands, the Raptors hold a scoring rate of 96.4 points per 100 possessions when Lin is on the court. Which is a pretty drastic reduction when you consider that they hold 155.5 when he is on the bench.

Lin is by no means clueless of his faults and its effect on his team, "I'm seeing that I have to reverse a lot of my mindset in terms of just the freedom I have on the floor and the empowerment," Lin told TSN’s Josh Lewenberg during a recent interview. "[Nurse] has done a great job of opening that up and I need to step into that. That's my responsibility to step into the door he's opened for me."

Raptors fans may be ruthless with their criticisms, but at the end of the day, they love their team unconditionally. Most are still choosing to give Jeremy Lin the benefit of the doubt and a fair chance to prove himself.
