Fallout 4 surpasses Skyrim to be crowned as Bethesda’s most successful game

Fallout 4 intro

Fallout 4 has overtaken Skyrim, becoming Bethesda’s most successful game ever. In three years on sale, Skyrim sold 20 million copies, between 2011-2014. Meanwhile, Fallout 4 shipped 12 million copies on its launch day, but Bethesda haven’t released sales figures since.

The news that Fallout has surpassed Skyrim comes via the Kinda Funny Gamescast, in which Bethesda marketing man Pete Hines said, “Fallout 4 has gotta be the most successful game we’ve ever launched in our company’s history. More than Skyrim, in terms of what we did.”

“What we did” was later clarified on Twitter.

Judged over the same period of time, Fallout 4 has outperformed Bethesda’s snowy RPG, then. It’s no small feat, considering how massive Skyrim was at release.
