Parkland student arrested after threatening social media posts

A male student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., was arrested this week after posting photos online of a gun and threatening a fellow student, according to multiple reports Friday.

“Anyone know josh at Stoneman Douglas he’s light skin where’s Gucci glasses and jeans that look like a 4 year old drew on em hmu,” the unnamed student wrote in a Snapchat post this week, according to TMZ.

In the post, he wrote “catch me out there n****s” along with a picture that showed a gun down his pants, along with a Louis Vuitton belt and boxer briefs showing.

The threats were reported by an unspecified source and local law enforcement arrested the teenager for making threats.

Along with what turned out to be a BB gun and bullets, detectives discovered the suspect’s username on the Fortnite video game was “NickCruz,” the name of the 19-year-old who shot and killed 17 people at the school.

The school has not indicated whether it plans to expel or suspend the charged student. In response, parents who claim to be the guardians of the person threatened have filed a lawsuit against the high school for refusing to ban the suspect from coming back to school.

Bradford Cohen, the attorney for the family suing the school, said his clients are not after financial gain, but are concerned about their child’s safety and security at school.
